Extended Contracts - AaAaaarrrrggghhhh!!!
Just wanted to share my experience with people.
I've just spent a very frustrating afternoon trying to get O2 to give me what I want. I'm at the end of my 18 month contract, so fancied a basic, run of the mill i-phone - nothing flash, only the 3g 8GB model. These bas####s will only offer it for free these days if you sign up for a 24 month contract with them, which I find seriously anti-competitive. My 18 month old phone is currently so knackered that it has to be permanently plugged into the mains - i.e. it's no longer considered to be a mobile! :-( these !!!!!!!s are trying to force us to take on longer and longer contracts.....think am gonna go pay as you go - am particularly annoyed as these crooks have had a lot of my hard earned cash over the years, yet don't reward us for loyalty to them......
Right, that's my rant over - think it's time for a lie down for an hour followed by lots of vodka....

use tesco mobile, they do the iphone and 12month contracts!0

That does seem to be the norm now, especially for smart phones like the iPhone and HTC Desire. Funny how it's crept up from 12 to 18 to 24
I refused to go 24 months with T-Mobile for the same reason. My G1 just about limped home to 18 months, I could never go far from a power outlet, they simply do not last 18 months.
Ended up going through a reseller and got the 18 month contract I wanted.0 -
Well to start with you are wrong. It took me 10 seconds to find it for free on 18 month contracts on the 02 website. Maybe you aren't willing to spend enough per month for it to be free.
Secondly it is a very bad time to do this - as within a few weeks the 3GS will be at the same price point (or less as the 'new' 3GS is only 8gb) than the current 3G.0 -
You won't get rewarded for loyalty with an iPhone as Apple set the tariffs. Don't waste your money on a 3G, it's a two year old handset and is not going to receive all the features of the OS upgrade this year and I can't imagine the resale value will be too good in a year or so. You are not forced to take on a 24 month contract, there are to be four networks offering iPhones in a couple of weeks so vote with your feet! As Deano says try Tesco Mobile for a 12 month contract, I got my 3GS in store and have to say nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff. They are not on commission so you don't get the sales pitch either. :TDeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
