Lino is more durable than vinyl as the colour goes all the way through. If you damage vinyl you are left with a white blemish.
I used kitchen/bathroom grade laminate from B & Q, been down 3 years, very pleased with it.0 -
I have got the laminate that looks like tiles and it water resistant - it has been down for 6 months now and no sign of warping. Looks just like real tiles but it's warmer to walk on. I got it off ebay for 1/2 the price off b&q exact same stuff.0

Even the bathroom grade laminate will warp if you have a leak underneath it, the water has to go somewhere.
Despite that I never learn and have got laminate yet again!0 -
We have porcelain tiles, there are several different sizes arranged in a pattern, been down around 5 years now with no trouble, not even had too many dropped cups etc.0

I have expensive vinyl and after getting 'proper' floor tiles in the bathroom, I am so thankful I don't have them in the kitchen.
Our kitchen is warm underfoot, quiet and less risky if something is dropped. It's also very easily cleaned.
Our bathroom is cold underfoot (unless we have on the 'very expensive to run' under floor heating), the grout lines are already grubby (and they were sealed) and I live in dread of someone dropping a glass bottle etc.Herman - MP for all!0 -

ntoice also the skirting , we used some of the tiles as skirting0 -
I have Sheera slate tiles from Topps which look lovely. They were more expensive than vinyl but as the kitchen was small, I decided to splash out and so glad I did.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

We've got vinyl in our kitchen, I don't like tiled floors as I'm a lizard and feel the cold a lot.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

cold tiles are brilliant in the summer!
re laminate. its ok saying "waterproof", but what they really mean is moisture proof.
if the washing machine leaks, the laminate floor will "blow".
thats why tiles are the best method in wet areas.Get some gorm.0
