No needmoney only "***********************" Sub thinks its not.;)^^^^^^^rude wordMoi....?
Martin asked me to say I'm a volunteer Board Guide on the Utilities board, facilitating its smooth running. I can move & change posts there. However I do not read every post.
Dealing with abusive or illegal posts is not part of my role, so if you spot any, please report them HERE.

If it wasn't for Martin, they wouldn't have a quality site like this to express their views. Nor would they have such a huge pool of information, on virtually every consumer issue they might need, at their fingertips - FREE OF CHARGE!
I've said something similar on another thread already today and I'll re-iterate again here:
Martin has earned the respect, (and, I'm sure, the affection), of everybody who regularly uses this site. If there are those here who don't yet understand that, then stick around, you soon will. In the meantime, please take a little time to consider the feelings of other users who admire Martin's integrity and drive, and who are delighted to be part of this site and privy to the wealth of information he works hard to gather and then shares with us freely.A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
i have been reading this thread and i am dismayed at all the sucking up to Martin. Yes he has this forum, but, if you do enough searching you can find all the information out there. Martin said that Sainsbury's were after him, but he backed down, Why? He had the big boys scared then let them off the hook. What I want to know is, is there a hidden agenda with Martin?? Is all this just a publicity stunt to promote his media work? This forum would be nothing with out its members, Martin wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the members. So why are people sucking up too him?

When you have been around a group of people for a while, reading their posts every day, you come to regard them as friends, even though you haven't met. That goes for Martin too, regardless of whether he knows us as individuals, or not.
When someone is rude or disrespectful to a friend, you want to defend them. I'm sure you understand that. It's nothing to do with sucking up.
I stand by my comments (and those of other posters) about being polite to the person whose site you are visiting. If someone came to your house for a cup of tea you wouldn't expect them to start stamping around and criticising the curtains. It isn't about hero-worship or sucking up, it's about good manners. Just because we are in cyberspace, we shouldn't forget that it is real people we are speaking to, and that normal social rules still apply.
On the Sainsbury's issue, I'm sorry Martin disappointed you by trying to protect the site and those who use it.
Perhaps you think he should have said, 'Sure, go ahead, Sainsburys won't do anything', but what if they HAD decided to target individuals? At the very best it would have been a lot of upset and hassle for people who may not have realised what they were getting into. Or maybe it would have been worse.
A person can decide for themselves to take that kind of adversarial action, but they don't have the right to make that decision on behalf of other people who may be less well equipped or simply unwilling to deal with the results. Martin did the right thing by backing down this time; anything else would have just been irresponsible and counter productive in the long run.
This is not about fighting everything in sight as hard as you possibly can, regardless of the cost; it's about being effective. It's also about changing the way people think, and sometimes that involves walking a fine line between confrontation and co-operation. In my opinion, Martin seems to have the balance about right.
Certainly the forum would be nothing without its members; it wouldn't be a forum for one thing! But ask yourself, what brings the members to the forum in the first place? And keeps them coming back?
This isn't just a freebie site. And it's not an accident that it has become so popular so fast. It's the solid graft on the part of Martin and the Moneysaving team, (including our hard working mods), that brings people here and in turn encourages them to make their own contribution.
As for the question about hidden agendas, I'm not sure I really want to dignify that comment with an answer, except say that I don't believe that to be the case, and if you read more of the articles and guides on the main site, you may come to agree.A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
well put marigold.
it amazes me why people join a forum with such a negative attitude.
unless they have hidden aggendas themselves........0 -

my hidden agenda is that been a sainsbury worker, my bonus at christmas was cut, because of people from this site using codes that they weren't entitled too. Now because of selfish people this site has COST me money not SAVED any. Soooo maybe you will think twice when using vouchers in future, because someone somewhere will get financially hurt by people using them.0

I am sorry that your bonus was cut but I don't really see how you can relate it to these site users. Sainsbury's have been their own worse enemy. Their prices are too high compared to Tesco and Asda. A point was also made earlier in this particular discussion that the easy access to discount vouchers has introduced customers to shops websites. To use a voucher involves spending money. Therefore they are increasing the turnover of the business.
I think this site and members are fab. We don't always agree with one another but we always try to be polite. Please try to do the same and then people will respect your views, even if they are at odds with their own. Welcome to the forum~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

i'm sorry that your bonus was cut. martin didn't post the codes himself though and did everything in his power to rectify matters. as soon as the trouble kicked off he removed codes and asked us not to discuss them. he now has strict rules about posting voucher codes. you have to say what the source is and you can't post personal codes. if everyone follows his rules then the sainsburys debacle won't happen again. that's the whole point of this thread, that the voucher rules are clearly stated on the vouchers board and he doesn't want any posted elsewhere.
there are plenty of voucher codes out there for everyone to use, that companies are happy for us all to use. these include introductory offers, free postage, small discounts, free gifts etc. and it's great to find them mentioned on this site of you haven't already come across them. the companies want people to use these vouchers, everybody's happy. the sainsburys codes weren't these kinds of codes so there was a problem. i'm not sure how happy boots, redoute and lxdirect are with the use of their codes recently. but at least if everyone posts voucher codes in the same place it's easier to moderate and rules can be clearly stated.52% tight0 -

I'm very sorry that your bonuses were cut, and I appreciate why you might feel resentful, but please don't take it out on people here. They have nothing to do with your problem. I think you have been misinformed.
I am also a little confused. In your earlier post you slammed Martin for not fighting Sainsburys and keeping the codes on the site. Now you are attacking people for using the same codes. Exactly what point are you trying to make? Or are you just being contentious for the sake of it?A penny saved is a penny gained0
