No Glaswejen is very common but would rather not say as I want to keep my condition private from family members and they read this forum.

That is what is worrying me. Had no problem getting high are the first time round from consultant report but when I applied for mobility I got lower rate straight away but this new decision maker has sent it to their own doctors.

I am thinking the worst and will have to go all the trouble of appealing.

perhaps the DWP are investigating as your condition is one that would be expected to improve and your forms indicate that it hasn't?

My doctor told me me I satisfy all the criteria high rate mobility and will support me all the way.

I was told by welfare rights that I have a good chance. I am just hoping it has gone to their own doctors for advice on the mobility part and not the care.

The DM said I can expect a decision in about 7 days so hopefully not too long.

If I get lowered it will affect my tax credits and other benefits and it will be a hassle I could do without at the moment.

sox8369 I will let you know how it goes.

    Thank you for help/comments

even if it were lowered it wouldnt affect other benefits as DLA isnt classed as income for means tested benefit purposes.

Glaswejen I was initially awarded for two years in 2009 but when I applied for motability it was increased by four years. Maybe this decision maker wants to lower the award if she can. I don't know.

Seeamje - have you heard anything yet ?

We rang yesterday and ours is still with the Medical Advisory Team - its been with them for over a week now (claim went in 8 weeks before that) - do you or anyone else know how long the medical team 'usually' have the claims for before a decision is made ?
    Thanks everyone x

mine went for renewal, i have a degenerative condition and supplied mri scans that clearly showed marked degeneration as well as proof that i am now on morphine for pain relief-result was that they took away my higher rate of mobility completely and lowered my care to the minimum amount, despite indisputable proof that i was worse than when they made the last desicion!

Kaya - that just doesnt make sense, i dont understand how they could dispute an MRI showing that the condition had worsened (and therefore your needs had not lessened).

Hve you appealed ? - it just makes me cross that it seems the poorlier someone is, the harder they have to fight to claim what they deserve.
    Good Luck !

An MRI or proof of increased prescribed medicine does not show that a persons care or mobility needs have increased only that their condition has gotten worse which is something completly different. DLA is not based on conditions/illnesses or how severe they are but on care and mobility needs associated with it.
