London Underground help needed

I wonder if anyone can help, sorry if this seems a bit dim but I have not been to London since I was in my teens.

I am taking a 4 teens to London by train from Edinburgh to Kings Cross. I have looked on Underground and it seems quite straighforward to get from there to Croxley (watford) to the hotel and then from the hotel to Wembley. A friend has gave me an oyster card which she says I put money on for travel. My question is do I need one for each person or can I use it for all of us ( 1 adults, 2 x 16 year old, 2 under 16). also is it valid for underground travel throughout London. Any help required as I am totally confused,

Oystercard pay as you go is valid on all underground and buses. It will deduct the amount of the journeys from the balance on the card.

    You need one per person.

Do a bit of digging here https://oyster.tfl.gov.uk/oyster/entry.do

ETA you can also buy on on the day but its a £3 deposit per card plus your top up. It might be easier to just get a return ticket or a travelcard. Depends what other journeys you are planning while you're here.

Have had a look but still unsure. I also have a family railcard so not sure . On the sat we will only go from kings cross to croxley, then croxley to wembley and back. Bit confused by it all.

If you're talking about a Family and Friends Railcard, then that will be of no use when travelling Kings Cross, Croxley, Wembley, Croxley, Kings Cross. Those trips are all on the Underground.

The above poster is incorrect. Under 16 only get free transport on buses with an correct oyster and NOT underground trains.

Also, I'd advise to check the dates you are wishing to travel on. There's recently been lots of engineering work at the weekends on the met line( Although they don't do this during weekends when there's major things going on at Wembley like FA cup final). Just select the dates you are going!

Depends on age. 10 and under is free on tube and buses. 11-15 free on buses only.

Isnt it an offence to use someone else oyster card. I have seen them pulling and fining people over it.

It depends on the type of Oyster Card MankySteve. If its an adult oyster, then anyone can use it- however children would end up paying more.

However if its a student, 11-15, ect type cards then clearly an normal adult can't use them. With child oyster, there's a different beep at the ticket gates alerting Staff that you're using a child oyster:)

If you register at an NTF office you can get your family and friends rail card discount I believe.
