Hi all,
I am looking for tips as money is a bit tight this month. After all of my bills etc, I have £120.00 left to cover petrol, food and anything else.
I don't want to borrow money from parents, so do you have any tips to make this stetch?
Ps, I would have considered cycling to work, but it would have taken at least an hour and I already do 12 hour shifts.
Look forward to hearing from you!

Well if you are hardly getting any income then the only best way debt free is to ask your parents if they lend some money.Needhelpsaving wrote: »Hi all,

Cycle (quickly) and shop at Lidl, no ready made, cook/bake your own, give the rest to charity.0

Petrol.... is there a easy bus service - get a bus pass? Or Car share?
Food. Net mums is a good website for budget meals. Is it you alone or a family you are feeding. Stick to pasta. omelettes. Quiche, Pies, all cheap to make. If you don't cook pop into iceland, you can get some bargains, also supermarkets look at the reduced section.
Do you have tesco clubcard or sainsburys nector points you can use? Boots points for health things.0 -
Food could get down to around £60-70. Leaves you with £50 petrol.
Unless you have a beast of a car or live miles away, it should be enough.0 -
Many people do live miles away, when was last in the UK (a few weeks ago) my nearest public transport was a steam train (honestly) a couple of times a day!!!!!!!!!!!!! isn't the bicycle a wonderful invention?0

Hi, during really tight months I always find the quickest way to cut down is on the food bill. It's possible for a single person to eat well on £10 a week (or less if you put in some effort!)...buy a bunch of basic ingredients and cook from scratch, and don't waste anything. eg. flour, potatoes, rice, butter, eggs, beans, peas, lentils, tinned tomatoes....You could also try getting a few more quid in by selling off a bit of clutter on ebay:)
Don't be tempted to contribute to other people's coffers by buying "stuff" unless you absolutely cannot survive without it.0 -
eat well on £10 a week? lmao

I feed 5 and all household items for 80 a week. Just carful meal planning and dont buy anything you really dont need. Dont be tempted by the goodies bake your own, batch of Twinks hobnobs will see you through for ages and if you use value products then they are a steal!
Go over to OS forum there is loads of advice and support. You will feel very inspired when you read how some people make their money stretch.
