I don't really know what these will be, if she is indeed pregnant. Hopefully another small breed. There's a huge thread about the pros & cons of westies, I don't know if you've seen it. I must say that this one is absolutely gorgeous. No bias going on there.
So far different from the adverts with westies in, she was almost white for 5 minutes after a bath one day, until she dug up the veg patch & had a good old roll, she nusually has cow muck on her somewhere, I do like dogs to have personality & terriers have it in abundance. They don't realise that they're a small dog. She's so loving.
I hope that you're Mum's as lucky as I was in finding one. My Aunt met a friend the other day who rescued a westie, I think he's a few years old as well & has had 5 homes. 1 for just 2 weeks, another for 6 weeks. His new person has said that he's an absolute gem, she has 4 other rescues as well. I don't know what's wrong with people.congratulations please keep us updatedalso when shes in labour its best to keep your other dogs away from her, she wont want them there and may snap at them, abit like us in labour lol
It's a pretty small house, 2 up 2 down, I may move the fridge freezer & cupboard out of the utility room so that she can be in there. The only problem with that is the washing machine's in there & it may be too noisy.
Herbert luckily does exactly what she tells him, if she curls her lip he moves. I'm concerned about how he'll react to the smell of blood, as I know that can turn them back into feral animals.
I could of course be worrying for nothing. She may break wind & deflate, I just hope that I'm not standing behind her.:rotfl::rotfl:

I've already considered that & trying to decide the best place to put her when they're born, I assume that downstairs will be best for her, so that if she wants to go to the loo she won't have stairs & can be back in quickly.

if you dont pick some where she will there well know for it, get a cardboard box blakets etc where would like it and let her use it as her bed shes more likely to get used to being in there and give birth there if she does somewhere else then take her in there, also puppys can not regulated there temp for the first 3 or 4 weeks if i rember rightly so some where warmish is best, if shes panting alot lots of water while giving birth, and if she wants to go outside late at nite check if shes going to the loo or not sometimes they think they need the loo and infact there giving birth x0 -
I have a westie myself, always had them:money:0

They are brilliant characters aren't they, I've not had a westie before, but had terriers & terrier crosses. In the last couple of years I've met & got to know 2 westies & really fell for them. They seem to have become more popular in the last few years, or is that just me noticing them more? I do hope that if it is it isn't because of the ads.
Have you bred yours? I can't remember now who has & hasn't. Did everything go well?0 -
oooh god no I'd never use him to breed. He was a rescue I got a 7 months old (almost 6 now) and came from a puppy farm. He is very bad example of the breed and has been riddled with health problems since I had him. Other than that he is a funny little character, grumbles a lot like an old man and only wants a cuddle on his terms. He is my best friend and I love him to bits x
Westies are very much 'my' breed and I've only ever had rescues/2nd hand ones! x0
