Did she know that they were on their way? That's probably the best way everything go so smoothly that you don't know about it until it's all over.i would suggest though if you take her to bed with you, maybe make her a bed onthe floor with lots of blankets just incase! im sure you wouldnt want to wake up and find puppies and mess on your bed (if she is pregnant) good luck x
In my younger days, I probably woke up to worse. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I think that I will go & make her a little bed in a box with some something?
Will the ebay bidders believe me if I say sorry but my !!!!! gave birth on the bundle of clothes that you won? That will be a new thread on the ebay board.
Thank you all for your help:D0 -

Sounds like a friend of mine, although she doesnt actually breed them just collects others unwanteds along the way. Last count 2 dogs, 6 cats, 3 chincillas & I think 4 parrots.
1 child, 1 full time job, 1 part time & a voluntary one. In her spare time she sleeps, briefly.0 -
It's nice to fill ones life with animals, it is my main ambition in life. I have only one cat at the moment but when I am more settled financially with a mortgage and some land I want to get pigs and chickens too! Plus I miss my small furries but I am scared the cat will like them too muchWeight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0

It could be pyometra still, or a phantom pregnancy - scratching at the floor isnt necessarilly nesting - some dogs will try and dig a hole to lie in if they feel ill... personally, I would ring the vet to discuss... and yes, if she is pregnant, she could be ready to give birth or she could be suffering complications... it is so hard to say, but to be honest, a swollen stomach and a restless dog could be symptoms of a lot of conditions, including infection, bloat etc... (though bloat is rare in small dogs, it is not unheard of)...
Clearly, no one could say without seeing your dog, but it would be awful if she was in real trouble and we all assumed it was pups... even if it is pups she may need medical attention, especially as a small dog who may have mated with god knows what...0 -
If you think she is near on giving birth then you should be able to either see the pups move when she is laying down or feel them. I doubt she is pregnant though if she has already seen a vet since being with you. I'm guessing it's a phantom pregnancy and if thats the case then she needs to be spayed. if she is having pups then we expect to see photos
Some of the foster dogs I have had have had phantom pregnancies and did what you are describing.0 -

Hi, only just had time to get on today.
The vet didn't want to see her, pyometra ruled out as after 6 weeks it would have killed her, however I would have known that she was unwell.
The general opinion is that I'm having pups, it could be a phantom but they think that it does sound more like a real pregnancy. They've said to check her teats each day as around 24 hours before labour she should produce milk.
If she starts straining strongly for an hour & nothing happens, or 2 hours weakly to call them as she will be in need of medical intervention. Or if I'm concerned about her.
She should go off her food & may be sick leading up to labour.
I've got a nice big box, lined it with towels & an old quilt that can be ditched, picking up lots more bedding & towels from an Aunt later.
I did ask about a scan but they only usually do them if there are problems, they said that she sounds fine.
I would have liked to know when she was due.
It could be now, or up to 23 days time, I don't know if my nerves can cope with 3 weeks. Although the vets think that it sounds sooner rather than later.
I will keep you all updated.
Some websites say about taking their temps every day but I really wouldn't want to be putting a thermometer up a dog as I don't know what I'm doing. It's a shame you can't put it under their arm or tongue, or one of the new fangled strips on the forehead.
I guess it's a waiting game now. I'll be scared to go anywhere in case it happens when I'm not here & she needs help.
So that's my news for today folks.0
