Office closure is automatic potential redundancy.
What is in the contracts about location and mobility.

The new alternative roll has to be a suitable alternative.

Before considering constructive dismisal I think you need to build a case for the alternative position not being a suitable alternative and that you are redundant.

Distance, time, cost, personal needs, all need to be looked at, on an individual basis if neccessary.

eg: someone that does not drive walked to work and no suitable public transport has a better case for redundancy than someone that drives and live between the two offices.

If there is a good support package for cost that negates a significant factor in the case for redundancy.

It's a Royal Mail centre. If there is one thing that is guaranteed in any Royal Mail establishment, it is that the union is involved. What is their position on this?

35 miles is classed as unreasonable and they should offer you redundancy with the offer of applying for a new role within the company at the other location.

I was moved 33 miles last year and the company I worked for had to do this. I believe the limit is 30 miles.

Have you got a link or is this hearsay?
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

    You seem to know alot

Yes! It doesn't mean I agree (or disagree)

Felt it was appropriate to add it to the debate though as it affects whether redundancy should be offerd if they are offering support with travel.
