If your ultimate employer is the Government in one of its many forms then you are employed in the public sector. Otherwise you're in the private sector.

Thanks Generali. I have a local government pension plan so public sector I think.

Should I hang my head in shame now?

Private sector (and my current bank didn't take a penny from it's home Government).

I have never worked for the Government or a Nationalised company. The closest I have come is working for a Uni which was a privately owned company working out of a state owned University.

During my period of unemployment I tried applying for a job with the Equal Opportunities people over here. They only accept applications from Australian citizens!

I think that also applies if you work for British Aerospace in Australia - you have to be an aussie citizen.

Probably. I hate to be the one to break the news.

    I feel for you.
