I've got five jobs, one private sector, one public sector, two working for myself and one unpaid/voluntary. There isn't a box for that so I ticked "both".

Private but supply public sector, so think our recession is just about to start.
But at least we can change the target market if things get tough.

I 'worked for the Government' from 1st January - 30th May this year, but now I'm working for myself!

Private sector (and my current bank didn't take a penny from it's home Government).

I have never worked for the Government or a Nationalised company. The closest I have come is working for a Uni which was a privately owned company working out of a state owned University.

During my period of unemployment I tried applying for a job with the Equal Opportunities people over here. They only accept applications from Australian citizens!

    There's no option for 'retired.'

I have a public sector pension and a private one too, which I'm not cashing-in just yet.

As my gold plated, inflation-proof pension is so huge, I'm also continuing to run a business with DW - something I've done for years. The only difference now is that it will make a loss for a while, to offset against said pension. Ironically, in a few years time, when hopefully we'll be into profit again, I shall also pick up my state pension (if they are still handing them out!)

The business is linked to our property, so there is the prospect of adding value too. (:rotfl:) Quite a complex situation really!

So I'm both, and I have been, for much of my working life. TBH, never saw much difference in the sector I was in, except that we public folks got more of the carp.

If your ultimate employer is the Government in one of its many forms then you are employed in the public sector. Otherwise you're in the private sector.
