O2 iPhone 4 credit check

Hi Everyone,
I have been a customer of O2 on contract for about two years now and the account has always been run in good fashion.
I am upgrading to the new iphone when it is released by paying off my outstanding contract via their special offer.
After speaking to their customer services department this morning, I was advised that this can only be done in store rather than online which is where I signed up for the original contract. I have had problems getting credit recently although I have never had any problems with O2 when I signed up for my original contract and then my subsequent renewal.
I wanted to check to see if I am likely to have a problem on the day with signing up to this contract in store, or will it go through on the nod seeing as I'm a customer with a 2 year account with them?
Any help and advice you can give will be greatly appreciated.
