Good news, the garage have contacted me, they have agreed to go halves on the repair - £91.88 for the replacement and they will sort out my service history book while we are there. So a better result then expected following comments here really. Thanks for the kind replies.

Time & distance is 10k or annually.
Either is an option to be chosen by the customer at purchase or can be changed at the service point.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Reason we havent travelled to a nearer dealer was due to warranty work/servicing etc that I have always been told I had to go back to the dealer for.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. ANY Skoda dealer in the country can do the servicing/warranty work, not just the selling dealer...
ANY VAT registered garage can do your servicing to maintain warranty - it woyld not be lawful for Skoda (or any other make) to insist you have the car serviced at a dealer.
Only a franchised dealer can carry out warranty repairs though.0 -

Block exemption states that ANY vat registered garage can do the servicing as long as they stick to the recommended service regime, using manufacturers parts and lubricants.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Maybe pedantic, but that's how you sometimes have to be with these companies. AND it can save a fortune on servicing.0

As I said I bought my car from Birmingham and I am not taking it there for a service (it would be a 162 mile round trip!).
However I would always advice to take a car to a main dealer for servicing if the car is still under warranty. There is no legal requirement for you to do but if a fault develops one month out of warranty they are much more likely to help if it has full service history at a main dealer.
I will probably take my Panda to a FIAT dealer in Stockport when the time comes. Not going to ask voiding the warranty for the sake of a £20 saving.0
