Hi.
I went into a popular high street phone shop yesterday after finding the HC desire free at £27.50 a month for 18 months on orange dolphin.
The price quoted was on their website, but in store it became £30/24 months.
The sales person told me that they can't offer online prices in store.
Why is that? its the same phone, from the same company on the same contract.
I'm looking at buying the handset on o2 wihth a £15 text and web simplicity now, seems a better deal
What do you think?

Most of the high street stores seem to operate independently from their online stores, so you rarely see the same offers. When you consider the overheads of having stores in prime locations etc it sort of makes sense, although not to the consumer!
Deals on the Desire are drying up quicker than the dwindling stocks. It really depends if you want an 18 or 24 month contract or just a rolling 1 month if you buy the handset. I went for the 18 month contract from mobiles.co.uk on the Desire and got it delivered next day.0 -

Welcome to the World of bricks and clicks retailers. They'll say overheads are lower online so offer a discount for purchases there.
Deals on the Desire have got worse IMHO. I took the plunge on an 18 month contract and paid just under £100 for the phone. Same deal now is £140.0 -
I've currently got a desire through Virgin, but I will be sending it back due to poor signal, so currently looking around for deals, as has been said, deals are few and far between, but hopefully once stocklevels get back to normal the prices will drop, also hopefully demand will subside as people jump on the iphone bandwagon. I remember at Easter t-mobile had it for £10 per month, with about a £150 upfront cost, hopefully prices will get back to that soon!I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Well I signed up for the £27.50 18 month contract over 2.5 weeks ago via the phones4u web site and I'm still waiting for my phone now. Apparantly I should take delivery tomorrow but this has already changed twice now.
I've been searching high and low for another deal like this but cant find anything this cheap - Worryingly though, even phones4u dont list the desire on orange anymore. I think they may have fluffed up!0
