I have been with 3 for 18 months and thought I would miss out on getting a cheap(ish) Iphone upgrade as it is one of the only networks not doing them.

Well, I called up to get my PAC code (3 weeks ago) to move to O2 to get an Iphone and when I told them I was leaving purely to get an Iphone they gave me one! It is a European import but it was already set up in English and they also sent me a UK Belkin charger with it FOC.

O2 Deal (24 months) was £30 p/m for Iphone 16GB 3GS, Inclusive texts and internet, 300 mins free calls, plus £149 upfront for the handset.

3 Deal (24 Months) £16 p/m (Inc VAT!) for Iphone 16GB 3GS, Inclusive texts and internet, 300 mins free calls (Landlines and cross-network), unlimited 3 to 3 calls and 40 picture messages a month. No money upfront for the Iphone!

Yeah, they have been handing them out via retentions for ages. Only now have they announced that they will be selling them officially. Maybe they were waiting for the iPhone 4 to come out?

How did you manage to get that deal? They won't budge on £30 pm and £99 up front when I called.

Tried that. Still wouldn't budge! Said they were already more competitive than any other network.

Call them up and say you want to leave because they dont offer an iPhone then they will magically offer one. Dont ask about anything else or make it complicated by changing tariff, etc.

Also select the option for 'I want to leave' rather than 'I want to upgrade' as they can offer much better deals as long as you have 30 days or less to go. Outside of the 30 day window you wont get much offered.
