Awful Sky Customer Service

Good morning all,There isn't a question here it's more of me having a rant.I have been a Sky customer for many years and have had the basic boxes, Sky + and for the last 12 months I have had the full viewing package including HD.Well I have been getting fed up seeing all the offers to attract new customers but as usual nothing for their existing customers little if nothing. I rang at the back of May to reduce my package to just the entertainmet mix, got rid of Movies , Sports and the HD pack. The c/s rep asked me why just as I expected, I told them my reasons and said I was looking to move to Virgin Media, cue the script poo pooing their offerings. Anyway to my surprise the agent just said ok you have to give 31 days notice so your channels will terminate on 22nd June.No big deal I thought, your loss I can still watch the footy in HD on the free to air channels.Last night however I was on the telephone to Sky on and off for over 2 1/2 hours. I came home from work to find all my channels off, I called c/s who put me through to billing, they told me my payment had been recalled by my credit card company. So I spoke to them, who told me no request from Sky had been made since the last payment of £59 at the end of April. Back to Sky, who may as well called me a liar, back to credit card company again searched the specific dates Sky told me and ahain no request and no recall of monies.Back to Sky the agent then was a little more helpful who siad there were some trainers in the dept so would ask one of them to look into it. This is were they began to lie they said that the card that I was paying my account with expired on 06/09, I said that's crap how then have you as a company been taking payments from the card for the past 12 months, he gave me the last 4 digits which were from a expired card but I had a letter last year and gave them the new card details form which they have been requesting the payments.Anyway I'm waffling now but I had then to make another 4 calls and speak to a Team Manager to eventually get my viewing switched back on. My original call was made at 16.40 and it was 19.50 by the time I finished.I don't know what is happening at Sky at the moment, maybe it's due to increasing subscriber numbers for the world cup, I really don't know. But for me I'm afraid that's enough, I think it's time for Virgin Media. If you got this far, thanks for reading!

    Hi there
the bit about the credit card is a load of old tosh if it is an dd on the credit card.
We used to have setanta and after I had cancelled they continued to take the credit card payment. When I spoke to the card provider, they said even if the card was expired stolen blah blah, then they would still be able to continue taking the payment until they agree canx.
They are a pain! - I actually cancelled out sky last night - have sky+ box and hopefully movng in next couple of weeks . They wanted more cash just to move box.
Cheaper for hubby to get one of the new deals and a brand new box!

Well further to my rant this morning I created a SKY login to view my account, I have no idea what on earth is going on but somehow my account is now £102 in credit......

  • Your account will be in credit because to reactivate your viewing the team manager would have had to credit your account with 2 months worth of your sub or asked you to reset your recurring payment, it's the only way to get your service back on.I very much doubt that the credit is actually your money or that it will stay on your account, they will more than likely put a charge on to cancel the credit they had to put on. Hope that made sense! :)
  • hi i had the same thing with all the offers for the people joining and nout for as allready with sky
so i stoped the account and started a new one in the other halfs name and got half price sky for a year :rotfl:
