...why should I pay these people anything and let them off the hook and REWARD their behaviour?

How would it be rewarding them? Other creditors have got their money already, this one hasn't because of their behaviour so they are doing worse than they would have done had they behaved differently.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Ok - the calls - if you sent a letter by recorded mail asking them to cease calls and you have proof they recieved it then why did you not complain to the ombudsman? Telling them you will bill them each time they call you... nice idea but no legal standing :) wish it had... we'd all be billionaires!

Can you sue them... well good luck trying... ofcourse you have to pay to do it and chances of you winning? Slim to nil.

Letters asking for payment on a debt you owe is NOT harrassment. If you want them to stop... pay. That's non-judgemental and entirely unbiased advice... they are legally entitled to chase you and as said - they can ANY TIME they wish start proceedings for a CCJ against you up to 6 years (5 in scotland) from the date you last paid or acknowledged in writing that you owe that debt. Of course they'll try to get you to pay first without going for the CCJ - it costs them money so if you see sense and pay without it then better for them. Don't for a second think they won't do it though...

In future do all your communications with them by recorded letter only and always keep the receipt and a copy fo the letter.
