Superantispyware found 5 things as well. 2 tracking cookies plus the following...

    Trojan.Agent/Gen-FakeAlert[ClientNotify]
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ATTRNWXP.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ATTRNWXP.DLL
    C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{DBBF6A00-093B-4FC7-8AEB-8ADE59C7E5AC}\RP140\A0057378.DLL

Deleted and now Google Chrome is working again and all seems well. Hopefully it's now sorted.

OK I'm not sure what the next proper action is: it's either combofix or HostsExperts - please wait while someone with more knowledge (alienRIK?) advises which.

Thanks The Grandmaster for all your help and advice.
  • I don't think the process is finished yet sadly.

Can anyone help and say what needs to now be done? (combofix or hostsexpert?)

I feared you were going to say that.

Everything appears to be working as it was originally again though.
