My contract with Orange is up in 6days and after trying for the last month to get the htc Desire, i got offered a good deal but they don't seem to be able to supply me with the phone , i requested my pac code and was then told i still had to give a months notice after my contract expires

Sort of.
Your MINIMUM TERM expires in 6 days not the contract if you do nothing then it becomes a 30 day rolling contract with 30 days notice. In that respect he's right.
The PAC code request CANCELS the termination request and is valid 30 days, if you do not use it you will be back on the rolling contract.
If the PAC is used the cancellation happens automatically and you may be billed for 30 days in lieu of notice.0 -
A contract agreement is for a minimum time, not a maximum time and you need to give one months notice for cancellation.
Same for all the networks.0 -
Well i'll be a monkeys uncle.
I didn't know this happened at the end of a contract, i just thought at the end of a term unless you renewed, it just finished.
I have been with Orange a long time and have always been able to get a good deal and upgrade.
I have the deal just not the phone i want, i was offered 2 new phones samsung wave or nokia x 10mini tonight along with the usual SE xperia or htc legend nokia x6 i was holding out for the desire, maybe have to have a re think as it would seem one way or another orange has me for a little longer
Thank you for posting :TQue sera sera-whatever will be will be0 -
I redid my Orange contract through Car Phone Warehouse, only because it was two contracts and Orange won't do the Nokia that my partner wanted, CPW seemed to have a lot of Desires in stock, so maybe try them?0
