BR is this not the standard default notice sent out with each and every billl that you don't pay the full min. amount on? I've received around a hundred of those :rolls eyes: or is this a different one you talk about?

I remember calling the cccs when i first received one nearly in tears they were very helpful and told me i would be getting a few more of those! They weren't wrong

Hope it hasn't worried you too much x

I have no idea, we've never had one before (as we've never defaulted before).

We've also had a hiccup today as we've still got only £77 in the bank to last us to payday on the 24th. Got a letter this morning from out ISP saying that we hadn't paid the Dec bill. We thought we had. However, apparently the changeover in bank accounts meant that cos they'd taken so long to work it through their systems that they'd tried to take it from the old bank where we've cancelled all the DDs - this means it's not been paid and about £30 of the £77 belongs to them :(

  • Hi I started my DMP last September and posted on here at the time.

Just thought I would give everyone an update, everything is great. Didn't receive to much hassle from creditors, unplugged my house phone in September (still doesn't get plugged in) and changed my mobile phone number. Got a few letters but nothing drastic.

Lloyds have added over £400 in charges since the start of my dmp when I have only paid off just over £200 to them. After several telephone calls I have just finished a letter which I will be sending recorded delivery today to see if they will stop the interest.

My Very account was passed to NDR, I have spoken to them again on the telephone and was informed that the interest has now been stopped and no other charges will be added. I worked out that since September they have added £900 worth of charges and interest on. Now heres the thing, in my Lloyds letter I have asked if they will refund the charges from the amount I owe. My predicament is, do I dare ask NDR to the same now that they have allready stopped the interest or would that just be pushing my luck????

I have sent a letter to Studio asking if they will accept 40% in full and final settlement as that is a really small debt (only £150) so waiting to see what they say.

Not sure how every1 does there date things on the bottom lol, so here's mine

    Original debt £10,416.75
    Debt as of January 2012 - £9,883.96
    Estimate DFD - September 2014
    DMP start date Sept 2011 - 10,150
    DFD - August 2014 :j

it sounds like the usual default letter then to me ?? (i may be wrong?) and if so be expecting one behind each bill every month. You'll get one from every creditor as you will end up defaulting with them all once you start on a dmp because the minimum payments cccs pay them are usually less than what the 'agreed' amount states. I've had tonnes of them, i just throw them in the recycling now and don't worry about it. Having a trashed credit file is part and parcel as I see it on this :( ! x

Horray No calls from Opus for 2 weeks now. Looks like my telephone harassment letter has done the trick. Now I'm getting 'to avoid further action to your account please ring this number within 48 hours' letters. God this company is so dumb. My letter stated I would only communicate via written media.:wall::wall:
Crapital one still want pay slips and bank statements. Apparently according to their Indian call centre, if I had gone with an official debt management provider my plan would be in place and all charges frozen. They have had a letter posted today quoting The lending code section 204 to 212 to which they are a subscriber.
RBS want a signature on a little form they have provided , in order to allow them to carry out my instructions?????? (More than likely they need to see what my sig looks like, because they have no original CCA). Which incidentally I will be requesting sooner rather than later if they don't get off the pot and stop fannying about.
Lloyds so far no contact what so ever, just statements telling me I'm in arrears. No Sh*t
All my other creditors, AA (x3) Barclays(x2) and Monument, have been fine and have accepted my offers and frozen all charges and interest.I even recieved nice letters from Barclays.:huh:
So on wards and upwards. Some times I feel as though all this is a cat and mouse game to some creditors, bring it on I say. They don't own you and no one should be scared of any bully boy tactics they try and adopt.

Sounds like you have it all well sussed, well done.

Well done Mallyash - we too consider much of this a game of brinkmanship nowadays! I think it's probably a healthy way to look at the creditors and certainly, for us, removed the fear from the situation.

And DFW321 - your last full year? That's brilliant news and what an achievement. Our last full year is a long way off, but closer by the day :-)
Thanks for that SAAC. My previous line of work taught me to stand up and face the opposition, never back down. Creditors act on the assumption of fear and the knowledge that most people don't realise without CC backing that they have zero authority to demand instant money. They just have cleaver and threatening worded letters, generated by computer. I feel as though to some I might come across as overly unabashed and belligerent, but remember its just money. Most of it was offered to me on a plate with out bothering to check to see if i could afford to pay it back. My Citi card before it was bought by Opus started off with a credit limit of 8k, then during the 'lend money to every one' period before the Northern Rock crash it was increased to 16k and then finally 21k. Each credit increase just simply added to the account with out checks. I was about 50 grand in debt then and was I no position to pay back an additional 21 grand @ 29% APR. Opus in all fairness after taking over the account instantly reduced it to £1900. My balance was only about £1600. Sure its partially my fault for wasting so much money and getting so far into a hole, but the creditors should have taken more care to whom they lend large sums of money too. SO STUFF 'EM.:p

It probably is, but it's our first one and it's scary.
I might ring CCCS just to check that it's a 'standard' one, cos when Mr BR gets home from work, then I can be doing all the reassuring to him, that you're doing to me now x

    Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share my story and get involved in the forum. Been reading for a few days and just want to say that the comments so far have made me feel so much better... I want to contribute my story and also offer support as I embark on this journey!

I'm 24, got into debt and I was just careless. Kept paying off credit with credit and increasing my credit and WASTING money. I have now become wiser and more switched on and have decided to tackle my debt before it becomes wayyyyy too much (it already is a lot!!)

    My debts:
    NatWest Loan - £25,000
    NatWest CC - £500
    NatWest Overdraft - £2000
    MBNA CC - £2800
    Barclaycard CC - £3850
Total - £34,150 (at the age of 24.....)

Today I received my DMP with CCCS pack via email, I sent off the direct debit and agreement to pay £455 p/m (previously debt was costing me £900 p/m and I was stupidly paying one credit card by withdrawing cash from another... I have also exhausted my savings in paying debt so do not have any money or anything hidden away, such as car etc)

I'm hoping to be Debt Free in less than 6 years so hoping to still enjoy my 30's WITH MY OWN CASH!

I have sent letters to all my creditors and sent statements and pay slip to CCCS. Now it's just wait and see, right?

    Few questions:
I sent CCCS my payslip for end of november, as December had a small bonus and doesn't reflect my usual monthly salary.. Will this be ok?

Does anyone think my creditors will have an issue and ask me to pay back balance immediately and get a CCJ or anything on me?

When I was filling out CCCS form online, I estimated my monthly incoming (I was rushing) and put in £37 less than what I actually get. The payslip includes that £37. Will they have an issue about this and will it cause delays?

    Thanks for reading everyone! :)

P.S I have also opened a new bank account as suggested with smile :)

    Hi
We too have big debts with NatWest (similar amounts to you) and I was really worried as had read that they and Triton (their collection dept) could be really difficult.
However so far they have been really good. There was some added interest in the first few months but they soon stopped all interest and actually offered us a f&f amount of about 60% then (after only 4 months!!) We obviously couldn't settle however a year on we are in the process of settling with them for about 55% as OH is unfortunately being made redundant.
I can't fault them but I understand everyone's experience is different just wanted to put a positive spin on it and hope you find the same.

One good piece of advice I got on here is to try not to worry about what might happen. I tied myself up in knots about CCJ's and court action after looking into it. Folks on here calmed me down and so far (fingers crossed) none of that has happened. So in other words take each stage as it comes and don't worry about things that may never happen.

Good luck to all of you:)
