£5 for a plug and leads? you have done well there. Excellent.:jThere are better things in life than worrying about money…like nailing a jelly to a tree for example.0 -
If a cambelt slips a tooth or two, the engine would be very, very lumpy all the time, power would be lost and it would be a pig to start. If the cam belt breaks the engine would stop dead suddenly and probably smash some valves into the pistons wrecking the engine. I very much doubt if this is your problem BR. But you are right curioustom, Vauxhall's do have a Achilles heal, being the cam / timing belt.
Ah yes, the power slip issue - that was my problem - ignore the juddering comments!BlushingRose wrote: »Thanks folks - have just got back from the garage and it turns out that it only firing on 4 cylinders. Hi Joyanne
I am just waiting for a load of charges, knowing Lloyds
Oh no- I was under the impression Natwest and Lloyds are not linked?! Could anyone shed some more light on this for me please?! Thanks
Anyone please?!I've read that they are separate and that Natwest are RBS, Lloyds are linked with Halifax so I should be ok??

Natwest are indeed part of the RBS group.
The LLoyds group consist of Lloyds TSB, Halifax, Bank of scotland, C&G.
In my experience Bank of scot have been fine and understanding, Lloyds so far have ignored all my letters and Offers of payment. But to be honest I'm not fussed, they are only going to get token payments until they do, subsequently allowing me to add more coin to my emergency stash.:pThere are better things in life than worrying about money…like nailing a jelly to a tree for example.0 -

Yep, they are our regular garage, a nice bunch of lads, and I'd already rung the day before, spoke to the owner, and explained that we had no money - perhaps it was cos it was Christmas that we got off so lightly. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

Hi Suggest new letter and do it recorded delivery or at least always get proof of postage. If they wont play ball speak to the ombudsman

Has anyone ever had to buy a car while on a DMP?
I'm thinking ahead and it may not be an issue. But Dh has a job interview on 5th January. Its a 3rd interview for the same job and he has been given the impression he is the only candidate and it is just a formality to get approval from the owner of the company. He really wants the job. Its only a slightly higher salary than he is currently on but it is closer to home (on the days he is in the office anyway). It also includes a car allowance although we don't know how much yet.
At his last interview he asked for more info about the car allowance etc and was told it was paid monthly in his salary. He was also told that obviously he would be expected to maintain and run his own car with it and his car must be in resonable condition and no more than 8 years old. He currently has a 6 year old Diesel Mondeo which has already done 130,000 miles! So that would do to start with obviously but I really can't see it lasting forever with the sort of miles he will end up doing. And it would obviously need replacing after 2 years when it reaches the ripe old age of 8.
So assuming he gets the job we will have to weigh up the options for getting a newer car. Mine is almost 8 already so thats not an option.
So the way I see it is depending how much the car allowance is, the most obvious choice would have been to use that money to make a monthly payment on a 2 or 3 year old car. But the big question thereis would we be able to get the finance to do it? Is that even allowed while on a DMP? We could also of course save the money for the time being to hopefully be able to buy a car outright in 2 years time assuming Dhs car holds out that long bearing in mind the high mileage. Also would we have to declare the car allowance as income to CCCS and therefore our creditors, in which case will it just get swallowed up into the DMP and leave us unable to buy the car that will be a requirement of DHs job?
Sorry for all the questions on something that might not be an issue but I'm a natural worrier and this is bothering me.
Thanks

Funny you should ask about cars Jen, as when we were in the garage, we were told that 'one of the issues is that the engine is on it's way out'. Great.
So that might mean we'll be in the market for an extremely cheap car, or a new engine (which might be cheaper!)Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
