Arrrggghh!! Hubby has been off sick for 8 weeks, and just found out his wages will be £600 short! That's 25% of our monthly total! We're with DMP, but I haven't had a reply from an email I sent them yesterday. Payment on all DD's is due to go out on the 4th.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • Sorry I haven't been here for the last few weeks, had hols from work but thank goodness because we lost a much loved relative, so we were glad to show support at the end of her life. Puts it all in to perspective, really.
I am planning to read all the posts I missed!

To Mr B.Obama (Great user name by the way ;))
Can see you're having difficulties, so thought it best to send you a bit of advice from a seasoned DMPer.
1st; Do not look to borrow more to get you out of trouble. This is a false hope and will only lead to an ever-downward debt spiral till you're spinning totally out of control.
2nd; Your'e going to have to tighten your belt and rein in the spending. Do you really need Airforce One? If you sold it on E-Bay you'd have a few dollars to squirrel away in the 'emergency fund.' When you and Michelle host a banquet would suggest you shop from the 'value' range in Wal-Mart in future. or better still, get yourself invited on some state visit, so you get a free dinner or two :D
3rd; Defaults are upsetting, even more so if you are the richest nation in the world. But life goes on, and friends and family mean so much more than a bit of paper :)
4th; Check this thread for good advice, support and a friendly ear.
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
(A message in jest obviously but I think the underlining advice is sound for anyone with money troubles-hope all goes well for everybody)

Gawd, Twitty, exactly what we need, a good laugh!! You'll be telling him to paint the "House" magnolia next!

Hello, Raksha, sorry you are so worried about this, if it is any help, we had to pay nearly £700 short on our DMP in June because of urgent car repairs to keep our ancient car on the road. Apart from making up the difference with our 2 worse creditors, my advice would be just to get back to normal next month, and if there are people who play up and you are worried about, call them and they can put a 30 day hold on things.

  • Hello,

I am in desperate need of help please.

I have been on CCCS for more then a year now. A couple of months after I joined, I was offered a new job for almost double the salary I used to earn.

On top of the creditors I was repaying through CCCS, I had a big debt with family members. Within a year I was able to pay them back about £10K. I still owe them £6K. In order to be able to repay my family, I did not inform CCCS about my new jod (and better salary).

A few months ago, they asked to review my account and I have not responded to them yet.

Having repayed a big chunk of the entire debt to my family, I am now contemplating repaying my creditors with F&F settlements. I could comfortably settle some of them that are less themn a 1000 pounds. I have 3 of them over a 1000 pounds only.

I made some enquiries and was contacted by First Step Finance yesterday.

My total debt is £7633 (£4 of which is split into 3 accounts with Metropolitan / HSBC) which I reckon I could save by december this year. FSF told me the worse case scenario, I would be repaying incl. their fees £5100 and best case scenario £2900 pounds.

I have seen a lot of negative feedback about FSF and am not too comfortable dealing with them although it seems I would end up paying less.

On the other hand, I am scared to ask inform CCCS about my situation seeing they would take all the money i am able to save at the moment to repay my creditors and i would not be able to pay my family back anymore.

I would like to offer F&F to my creditors but do not know if I can do this without telling CCS about it. If i did, would they stop the agreement I have with them ? If so, i would end up being harrassed again by the creditors ? I wouldn't be able to offer F&F to all of them at the same time.

Shall i keep quiet with CCCS and save until I have enough money to make F&F to all creditors ar shall i speak to them ?

Has anyone had this issue before ?

    Please help.

    Hi TF
Sorry I missed you when you were logged in.
Have been thinking about you and the recent resurrection of the troubles in your part of the country.
Tricky enough to live life on a DMP without this, so I hope all is well with you and yours, and hope that sense will prevail again soon.
    You take care now.

    'Twitty'

Aw, thanks, Twitty, that was hardly mithering!

Ironically, the care we were taking was in a cancer ward for six weeks, supporting an elderly relative, and driving through glass covered roads to get there makes you wonder what planet some people are on.

Thank you again for your kind words, you have the dubious honour of being the only poster who has actually made me cry (twice), so try not to be nice to anyone for a while, yeah?

  • Hi Cissko, welcome here, sorry I really have no experience with CCCs, so can't comment, but it seems as if you are doing really well paying back your relatives (they'll be around much longer than your creditors, hopefully).
Some one who knows CCCS and how they work will be along soon and will be able to help,

    Hello

I've posted this as a thread in its own right but haven't received any replies, so wonder if you fellow DMPers can help please...

I am on a DMP, over 2 years now, going fairly smoothly, about another 5 years to go. One of my creditors is Cahoot, to whom I owe £800. My basic bank account is with RBS which I opened as I didn't owe any money to RBS. In 12-18 months time my RBS branch will be taken over by Santander, who I understand took over Abbey and presumably their internet bank, Cahoot. How quickly will it take for them to make the connection? Do you think I should switch banks to avoid them using the power of offsetting?

Second question would be, with a prevailing wind, underspending on groceries etc and a lot of E-baying, I might be able to raise a few hundred £s to offer a F&F offer to Cahoot before the 12 months is up - does anyone have any experience of this with Cahoot please? What sort of % figure did they accept?

Many thanks for any advice offered.
