But one where there's no chance of winning a £105,000,000 prize unfortunately! :(:(:(
The odds of getting a CCJ are also pretty rare, as you progress through your DMP and keep paying. (You though unhappily landed in the muck didn't you Grantalien - but survived to tell the tale thankfuly :)

I sure did! but hey it was still the right decision for me and my family - Looking back now we were (and this is to all DMPers) probably already thinking the right way, others are only just starting to re-budget while we have been doing it for 2.5 years! I am lucky really that we both have very secure jobs and budget well enough to live ok on a DMP with a healthy surplus for creditors - following Nationwide though my sympathy for banks and creditors is certainly less.

I've been over for a while playing with the big boys on the unenforcebility site. They're very friendly but think they would chew a creditor up and spit 'em out again without blinking.
Some creditors are helpful, but there are exceptions - the ones that create that 'knock your head on the wall in frustration and put the wind up you" syndrome :(
And yes, I'm with you - it sure does open your eyes to how banks and other lenders operate.

mint, hbos, virgin & mbna have accepted my dmp offer, just waiting on barclays & barclaycard now. i am not feeling so confident about them accepting but remain hopeful. I can't believe how easy it has been up to this point, no telephone calls from creditors, those creditors who accepted did so quickly too. Wish I did this years ago, don;t care about my credit score being ruined as I don't intend ever to have a credit card again
  • Just a quick update on my DMP via CCCS 3 debts cleared another 2 drop off this month - approx 1 year to go £30k paid off so far.

So to all you guys just starting out keep going it does get better.

Just a quick question I keep getting text messages from people offering loans to me on my mobile, does anyone know where they get our numbers from?

Also doing OK on DMP have paid £4257 does not look much has gone on debt (Thanks to interest charges) but it is creeping down slowly. I know it long haul but looking forward to the end which is a long way off but I will be debt free.

    Hi all,

I'm sure this has been answered before but can't find it on the thread. My first payment goes to CCCS on the 1st July, so creditors will get paid on the 25th July. MBNA has sent a letter accepting my offer, with next payment due on the 30th June, I have sent them a token £1 payment is this acceptable or are they expecting the same amount as on my offer to them.

CCCS should be able to confirm this to you, but normal protocol says that you pay token payments (of £1) until the DMP is up and running and the first payment has gone.

Anyone. Banks for example. Did you hear that (apparently) the Police are selling contact details of accident victims to Personal Injury Lawyers?

  • Have just started to take the first steps in setting up a DMP ... initially the amount of total debt once added up was scary ... owing a total of just over £15,000 including a personal loan, overdraft, credit cards and store cards :( ..... have been advised to set up a basic bank account before my DMP starts ... my credit record at present is shocking ... has anyone else had to set up a new bank account and if so did you experience any problems etc .... all advice would be very much appreciated .... am looking very much to hopefully starting on the road to a debt free future

Hello Rock Chick :) and welcome to the DMP forum. We're all in similar boats here so you're in good company - I think we've all had that first scary moment when the full amount of our debt was totalled up - but believe me, you do get past it and once youre DMP settles down it's soooooo good to see the figures going down!

I've just answered another post about basic bank accounts, so hope you don't mind if I cut and pasted....

First, check out Martin's guide to Basic Bank Accounts :money:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ban...-bank-accounts

Secondly, an easy to use guide to all basic bank accounts and the exact specifics of each one.
    http://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk...k_accounts.pdf

Basic bank accounts are really helpful as you know exactly where you are with them and there's no credit facility - ideally get one that you allows direct debits and a cash card. Oh and don't forget to start one up with a bank to whom you don't owe anything so you are fully in control of your money.

    Best wishes
