We had a similar situation when we had our boiler fitted a few years ago. After it had been fitted we smelt gas and phoned the supplier who said phone the manufacturer. Potterton sent their engineer out in a day or so and fixed it with no charge. In our case it was some parts inside hadn't been tightened up enough when it had been manufactured.

Good customer service pays off in the long run. It is the second Potterton boiler we have bought and we will almost certainly buy the same make when it needs replacing.

Snap, the new Potterton Promax FSB replaces a twenty year old Potterton KingFisher II, which was working perfectly. In fact, my plumber was telling me there was no need to change the Kingfisher II, as it was going strong. Hopefully, the gas savings from the higher efficiency will justify the upgrade.

The only reason we went to the manufacturer was because the supplier had told us to go to the manufacturer and the plumber said the same thing. The plumber even said that the gas boiler was a faulty because of one of the components. It wasnt even because we were looking at the cheapest option it was more because speed was of the essence as there was a 2yr old living at the property. The plumber said he would be able to fit us in if we were able to buy a boiler ourselves.

Maybe it was a mistake but as we've never experienced this before we didnt there would be consequences like this. :(
