have you had it dealt with ? either by calling the gas emergency service to ensure your safety or by a gas safe engineer?I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

Unsafe installation
The enforcement authority for such matters is the HSE and believe me,there are so many jobs like the one quoted by the OP that HSE are only interested in the ones which cause serious injury/death or have been reported to them by an authoritative body such as a public gas transports/emergency service provider.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Used them when they were Corgi, installer p*ssed about and wouldn't come back to fix faulty workmanship.
Corgi sent an engineer to inspect the work, invited installer to attend, gave installer notice to fix it within a certain time. Excellent service from Corgi.0 -
I couldnt find the post to reply.
As soon as we smelt gas we turned it off until we could get it sorted, its all fixed and no smell of gas now, thank the lord we smelt it in time.
Brought the boiler through a company called pioneer plumbing suppliers myself and boiler made by sime ecomfort.
The plumber spoke to the manufacturer to say it there was a faulty component inside the boiler, but they still refused to come out and look/fix it.0 -

And why should they?
Your complaint was against the supplier, not the manufacturer
I supsect your only [impractical] course of actiopn was to reject the boiler under either DSR or SOG, which no doubt would be loads of hassle
But to expect a manufacturer to turn out is a bit naive TBH
Lesson for the future, corner & price cutting can be more trouble than it is worthEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I bought a new Potterton boiler through the internet, which was installed and commissioned by a Gas Safe engineer on 29th May. Had a recurring Flame Failure problem. Called Baxi/Potterton on Monday 7th June, and the Heatteam engineer came on Wednesday. He replaced a spark assembly, free under warranty.
So buying it myself doesn't seem to be an issue.
We had a similar situation when we had our boiler fitted a few years ago. After it had been fitted we smelt gas and phoned the supplier who said phone the manufacturer. Potterton sent their engineer out in a day or so and fixed it with no charge. In our case it was some parts inside hadn't been tightened up enough when it had been manufactured.
Good customer service pays off in the long run. It is the second Potterton boiler we have bought and we will almost certainly buy the same make when it needs replacing.0 -
The difference is that Baxi have their own service network in the UK, OP has bought an Italian boiler which probably is not supported to the same extent. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Gas engineers have been urged
to be on the alert for stolen
appliances after thieves made off
with a haul of 180 Sime boilers.
Some arrests have been
made after a number of boilers
were spotted on an online
auction site. However, Sime has
set up a helpline so people can
check they have not unwittingly
purchased one of the stolen
appliances, which would not, of
course, be covered by warranty.
The Murelle HE EV boilers
were on a trailer owned by
Sime’s logistics partner, Ferry
International, when they were
taken over the Easter Bank
Holiday weekend, despite CCTV
and on-site security. Two stolen
commercial vehicles were used
to shift the boilers.
The boilers included 140
Murelle HE EV (80 x 30kw combi,
10 x 25kw combi and 50 x 35kw
combi models) and 40 Ecomfort
Plus 30kw appliances. Flues and
other accessories were also stolen.
Sime’s MD, Paul Linley, said:“Our database lists the serialMonday to Friday, 8.30am-5pm.
number of each and every boiler
we have imported from our Italian
manufacturing facility into the UK
from 2003. This includes the
stolen 180, and by working in
conjunction with the police we
have traced the serial numbers
on boilers for auction on a
number of popular websites and
arrests have already been made.
“As the warranty of all Sime
appliances is directly linked to
Gas Safe Register we can also
cross check the data received
from the register when an
appliance is installed. This means
we can either validate the
product serial number and details
or contact the end-user to inform
them of the unfortunate facts and
pass the details to the police
investigating team.”
To validate the serial number
of a Murelle HE EV or Ecomfort
Plus appliance, contact Sime
customer service representative
