  • Hi Mouseann, I hope you and all the good people on your thread don't mind me posting but to cut a long story short we are going through our own issues at the moment but I am posting here in the hope that someone can offer advice on my Parents in laws situation, we were telling them about our situation and they let us in to their secret - they are 68 and 69 and currently in a DMP with CCCS paying back 100 a month over the next 62 years!!! - they have a house with a mortgage!!! and are both still flogging their guts out running a home based business - I am pretty sure the majority of their debt is CC related although some of it is bank loans - is there anything they can do or are they destined to work till they drop - neither of them is in the best of health one has had cancer and the other has diabetes, arthritis etc. I just want to be able to help them not to have to pay till they die. I apologise if this is in the wrong place and I am happy to start a new thread but I just wondered if anyone could offer any help or advice at all.

You need to check out NID's uninforcability thread on first page of this board - if any one can help he will be able to.

    Hi Lolamosschops,

    Chatty's reply is spot on!

He/she got there before me - if you visit Niddy's thread he will point you in the right direction. He also keeps an eye on all of us on here, but I would suggest that you go to his thread to start with.

However, if it helps to "chat" with all of us on here please do join in.

And I do hope that you manage to get some help for your parents - they are lucky to have you on their side!

    Hi everyone

Hope you are all having a good day. Postie has been and not brought anything today, so its all quiet.

I'm just having a break, I have been quite busy doing the usual houehold chores, and then the worst job of all........shredding.!! I absolutely hate that job, and its amazing how much paper work you get, that you don't need to keep etc. So I've made a start on that.

Going to have a coffee now.....I deserve one

Niddy's thread can be found here so please have a good look around to see if is for your parents

But I would recommend starting a new thread as their problems could be helped out with advice from others and that would be the best way of getting that advice. At their age, paying into a DMP is ridiculous. If you don't know how -just click on blue NEW THREAD button above the green line near the top left of the Forum index page and away you go.

    All the best

    Hi Elsie,

Sounds as if your postie is as late as mine! He has just been and nothing to report from there, either.

I know what you mean about shredding. I am currently saving mine up and will do it while the tennis is on next week. This means that I can watch the tennis without feeling too guilty, because it will feel as if I am doing something useful at the same time!

  • thanks very much for everyone's input. I really don't know what else to do for them - surely it cannot be right that they will be paying off debt for the rest of their lives. I have started a new thread and will have a look at NIDs thread. With any luck they can start to fight back a bit and gain some peace of mind in their lives. I have to say a lot of their debt has been caused by very bad advice by bank managers and loan companies.

Mouseann - and everyone else who commented - a great big thank you and good luck to all!
