Dog training/wee pads for older dogs

I assume you mean furosemide which is a powerful diuretic. Personally I wouldn't mess around with pads etc unless there really is no alternative. Is your KC on them for hypertension or something similar?
Like in humans there are many drugs that can be used to lower BP and similar problems (our girl was on Fortikor), so perhaps you should enquire at your Vet if there is an alternative medication available without this unpleasant side-effect.0 -
Every month when I pick her prescription up there is a different spelling of the tablet container so unsure which is the correct way to spell it but yes that's the one I mean
She is on these tablets as she is in heart failure and has fluid on the lungs. When she first started on them she was on a high dose then I mentioned to the vet about the wetting so she reduced her dose but it has made no difference. The vet did mention trying her on different tablets but I'm not sure if it was an alternative to these ones that are making her wee or the other medication she is on. I have to take her every month so I will see what the vet says next time as the weeing is 2 - 3 times per day now, not every other day like before. It can't be helped so as long as she continues on these tablets I will have to use training pads or find some pants onlineA home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
I'm sorry to hear about your KC's condition. I know how hard it is to live with chronic illnesses in dogs, as our old girl had kidney disease which eventually overcame her. It may well be that diuretics are the only answer because of the build up of fluids around the heart, but I'm no medical expert.
I'd certainly push your vet if I were you to see if non-diuretics are a viable alternative, or alternatively perhaps propalin (or something similar) may help restore her bladder control. Whatever happens good luck0 -
