Just a shame its Delta on cramped 757 aircraft. The direct service doesn't start till November so I'd wait for the other airlines to weigh in with their New York offers (usually mid-September time)

On previous form, British Airways and American usually have some excellent deals around this time. I paid £181 return on BA all in - and its well worth the £20 premium.

What confuses me is the return flight on the Delta site is 7am but travelsupermarket has a return at 7pm, with Delta, similar fares.
The direct flight leaves 7.05pm, arrives 7.25am the next day. There is an approx 7am departure which sometimes comes up, which is c onnection through Atlanta rather than a direct flight.

Eh? Yes it is Delta, but the aircraft is a 767-300. The seat pitch is 31", same as the other airlines flying to JFK according to Seatguru so can't see that it's any more cramped than anybody else.

However, if you're a Virgin Flying club member, it's very worth seeing if they'll price match this..... and then you can collect your miles....!

Virgin will price match? How do you get them to do that?

You just ring them up, say you've been quoted x amount, waffle on about how you love Virgin, remind them you're a flying club member (if you are that is!) and ask if they'll match it. They'll normally ask for proof of your quote (screenshot of an internet booking, or an emailed itinery).

Personally, I prefer Virgin, so will always see if they'll price match other operators. It's a no lose for us anyway, either we get a cheap flight with Delta, or Virgin...... and if you dont ask, you dont get!

Nice one! I'm only a red card holder so don't think I've got much clout but hey - it's worth a try! :)

I don't think they will get any cheaper. BTW Are you going to fly to LGW the day before?
