The fact i went on a different day i didn't infact know what official date it was i went on the wrong day big wow i made a mistake i went to a new one its over now

You have nothing else to do all day every day. How long does it take to check what day/date it is?

I agree with DWP that it's a feeble excuse and you should be penalised for it.

You didn't attend a mandatory back to work session, the reason you gave would of been sent to a decision maker and they obviously found that you hadn't got good cause for not attending, they then applied the 1 weeks sanction to your claim from a date you are due to receive your benefit. All sanctions work this way. You miss any mandatory interviews or fail to comply with any regulations and a decision maker decides if it appropriate to pay benefit.

You are completely correct busy. I'm just rather surprised that no one so far has commented on the length of the sanction.

A few weeks ago non-attendance at a mandatory interview or group session would have attracted a one day sanction. The introduction of the week long sanction has not been widely publicised. I thought that I would be seeing more about it on these boards.

I can understand the rationale that we have been given, that it gives JCP a realistic sanction to use against the minority who refuse to co-opererate with the jobseeker regime.

For example; someone who is working cash in hand whilst claiming benefits (earning, very conservatively, £75 a day) is not bothered if 1 day's benefit (£15) is stopped because they don't turn up. Loosing a week's money might get their attention.

However, we (the JCP employees that I work with) are more concerned with our local 'poor souls', who can barely remember what week it is, never mind what day! These people will miss mandatory appointments because they lead chaotic lives, not beacuse they have somewhere else to be. In my area we have as many of the latter as we have of the former and this sanction will apply to both of these groups indescriminately.

Anyway, sorry you've been caught inn this net WBA fan, I'm not suggesting that you belong to either of the categories above, just making a general comment.
