so they sent me a letter saying they could not pay me because i had missed a back to work session it says from the 1th june to the 7th i can not be paid....i already told them the reason i missed it and rang them up on the day yet they still think its a problem and have put it down to a not good enough reason and this is my first time i have ever missed anything yet i am not being paid... anyway i signed on this monday just gone and got the letter today i rang up i spoke to a man and i had said what was on the letter and he had told me that i would not be getting paid till my next sign on he was a right moody git so i thought i am getting no where with him so i rang up my local job centre to see what was going on because i signed on monday and nothing was told to me.
The women on the phone was alot more helpful she just said because i missed a session that i would miss a weeks pay from the 1th june to the 7th june but she told me to double check with the job seekers people so i rang them back up spoke to a different women this time and she said the same that my payment would only be took of by a week so i should get 51.95 insted of my 103 the guy that i first spoke to only had to say this but he never told me a thing he just said that i would not get any money what so ever.
I am due money in tonight at midnight i am still confused will i get nothing or will i get the 51 from the 2 ladies i spoke to they seem to think i will only miss the weeks 1th - 7th payment but i am just making sure with people??
Thanks if you have readen all that.

Well it sounds like you're going to miss a weeks payment. That's what two staff members have said, although Mr Moody said you might not get anything. Guess you'll just have to wait and see ... not much we can help you with, we're not psychic.
Why was he so moody ? Dunno. Maybe you were the zillionth person he'd spoken to who had a feeble excuse for not attending a back to work session and who gave him an earful for his troubles.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -
Thanks for your reply

and i never gave him an earful he kept saying to me do you want to make a official complaint about a member of staff i was like no all i said was i was not told at my last sign on but i didn't carry on going on i had told him that i had already rang the job place on that day about not going the 2 girls were fine and i was on the phone for like 2 mins and it was sorted.
Like you said ill have to wait and see if any money goes in but the letter does say i will not be getting paid from them dates so i am guessing its nothing but i will go on what i was told on the phone

Are you saying you phoned them on the day & were excused attending the back to work session ? Is that what you mean ?
Why couldn't you attend ?I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -
Yes i told them on the day of the back to work session that i got the days mixed up i rang them up and they told me they would tell my advisor and the next time i signed on i got a new back to work session date which i had today but they are saying this was all the way back in may that i didn't attend so i am not sure why its took this long.
but they said they got no reason for why i didnt turn up even thought i did ring up and say why so this is why my payment from on the letter it says 1th to the 7th and it says from the 8th june 2010 i will not be paid.
This is why i was confused

i am just confused to the fact that something that i didnt attend to in may would mean that i have a week of june payment took out or no money at all and in that time i have signed on and done my agreement etc0

You didn't attend a mandatory back to work session, the reason you gave would of been sent to a decision maker and they obviously found that you hadn't got good cause for not attending, they then applied the 1 weeks sanction to your claim from a date you are due to receive your benefit. All sanctions work this way. You miss any mandatory interviews or fail to comply with any regulations and a decision maker decides if it appropriate to pay benefit.0

Gosh, that sure does happen a lot! I sure hope I don't get my days mixed up and forget to go into work - or worse still go in on a Saturday.0 -

Had you been in work, and missed a week of work - you would not have been paid either.
Can't you see it is the same ethic there? If you sign on when you are supposed to, if you go to the interviews you are supposed to, you get paid. If you don't, you don't!0
