Santander accused of shocking service

Comments

  • As one of the comments states, Santander are a privately owned bank and are accountable to no one. WRONG! They are accountable to their customers who they seem to treat so badly it makes my blood boil. Yes, I too am one of their enemies, sorry customers, who has an ongoing complaint with them and am constantly ignored.

They are arrogant beyond belief, they simply do not care.

It's about time someone stood up to them.

What's even more shocking is that the Daily rag has only just realised. We, here on MSE have known for years how bad they are !

Last Saturday I walked through a Santander branch's doors and had a really happy feeling in my heart.

I was on the way out having just finally closed all my dormant accounts with them (and I had only dormant accounts by early this year).

I'm afraid I have seen a decline in the quality of customer service in A&L since they were taken over by Santander.

The branch name hasn't even changed to Santander and they are already adopting their habits.

It's a real shame as A&L have some really good savings accounts (well they work for me) so I am having to choose between sticking with them or potentially loosing some of my money. :(

What a joke this company is,
possible the worst bank in the UK, after spending ages filling out and posting there unclear forms for 2 people and 6 Isas, they say they did not receive them, yet they got my new Isa form that was in the same envelope, once through to customer service they say i will be called back with in 4h, ha, its now 2 weeks, there are many more complaints i could mention, but i am just going to remove everything from them, esp after the news of there downgrade. AVOID SANTANDER PEOPLE.
  • I was interested to see in this weeks e mail from Martin that savings protection has been reduced by giving up the A and L licence. I have retirement savings in both Abbey and A and L from long before the take overs so now I will move to another bank.
When Abbey were taken over by Santander, the customer service became terrible but I had to stay because of the mortgage. When they took A and L as well I dreaded what would happen. Already, we have seen a difference and customer service have given us some problems.

Maybe their issue here was the fact you have 6 ISA's for 2 people, which is breaking tax law

I just signed up for an A/L account using the switching service, wooed by the offer of £100 free.

All seems to be going well on paper, but whenever I phone them the service I receive is SHOCKING.

The switch team sound confused and flustered, and I hear the frantic rustling of papers whenever I speak to them. The standard answer to any of my questions is "I think so".

The internet/telephone banking team weren't sure if A/L account numbers were 8 or 9 digits long. When they finally figured out what was going on and they accepted by account number the first question I was asked was if I had an account with them (?!?!?!)

And the credit card team have lost not one, but two applications from me. They also transferred me through to a different team who said my phone was broken because they couldn't hear me. I tried shouting to them that the other departments could hear me just fine but they hung up.

I just tried calling my local branch, there is no reply.

    What have I done?!?!?!

It is quite possible to have numerous ISAs. I have 2 with Halifax. Just different tax years. ;)

They are and always were useless, they sent me this week a pin number for my ex B+B account which has been closed for over a year!
Perhaps the most patriotic thing the British should do during the world cup is switch to a British Building Society or Bank.
I have a deep burning indifference
