Owing ebay money

They are threatening to take it further if I don't pay them what I owe them - 50 quid.

Will they actually do this ? Is there any way they can do it ?

yes you have a contract to pay ebay, unless the fees are wrong you have to pay.

It is like any other debt, they will just pass it over for collection which could result in a CCJ

    Is the £50 selling fees?

If so they will harrass and threaten you but probably do nothing else other than close your account (all of them if you have more than one) probably also close the accounts, pending payment, of anyone that shares your address.

That might seem a bit of a let off but the problem will be in a few months or years down th eline when you decide you absolutely must buy or sell something on ebay and you can't, if you open another account they will merely grab any payment owing from a card you register for that account.

We get a lot of threads on here where people have walked away from a problem only to have it all blow up again quite a long while later, usually at the most inconvenient time when they want to get back onto ebay.

You better pay it. I had £10 ebay fees which i forgot to pay next minute i had a letter from a debt collecting company asking to pay £18. So i paid the £10 to ebay and the debt collectors asked ebay if i settled payment with them and then droped the case. And ebay unsuspended my account right away

Sold something on there and the guy stated that I didn't send the item, which I did. I didn't need to use it for a long while and so when I next logged in they said that they had reimbursed the buyer -even though I am sure he has received item - and now want me to pay them. I really don't want to.

What do you think I should do - ignore them ?

How are you `sure` that the item was received by your buyer ?

Because it was a golf club (a putter) and those things are exactly "easy" to get lost.

I could obviously be wrong, but just find it strange that such a large and noticeable box could go "missing" and not turn up.

Anyway, I really begrudge giving them this money, tbh; It basically means that I have given away a putter for nowt. Am not sure what to do. I have been receiving a similar email from ebay now for the past 2-3 weeks that details the exact same thing...

I owe eBay over £100 (can't remember the exact figure) for my old eBay account from 2005.

The account's closed, they've written off the balance but they won't reactivate the account unless I pay the balance, which I'm not going to.

No biggy, I have a new account now. Point is, they don't do anything except ask you to pay and close your account.

Ah, so you are trading on ebay against the rules then..as you can't open a new account or trade at all whilst suspended on another account. They will catch you and usually when you have a lot of stock tied up, or some big sales about to go through and suspend you without warning.

NO, I think you should pay up. Is it ebay or paypal BTW that reimbursed the buyer, they treat debtors differently. If you could prove delivery using online tracking then you could have defended the claim, if not then why assume your buyer was scamming you..what a weird conclusion to jump to. Anyway you could have used your COP to claim your losses back from RM.

I really wouldn't suggest you use ebay or paypal until you read up a bit on basic protection and usage.

    ...

Seriously that's your explanation? It was a putter so it can't have got lost...seriously.

    sigh.
