Just had this question from a potential bidder:
Not really sure what to say to that - I know when and where I bought the bag and for how much, but how the hell do I know what "season" that was? I don't think she means spring/summer does she??
Hi, Please can you tell me when (year/season), where & for how much you bought this bag and please can you email me some more pics including some of the bag being worn over the shoulder.

Perhaps they dont want anything thats too old (Thats SO last season dear!!) and maybe they want an idea of how long the straps are, and it would be easier to see it over your shoulder, than for you to describe the length (a picture says a thousand words). Have to agree though, they do seem odd requests, Im just trying to think of inocent reasons why!
....if they ask you about your shoes, i'd probably block them and not reply!:eek:0 -
The photograph request is fair enough I guess, but my OH is away and I can't take them of myself from a distance.
As to when and where I bought it, and how much I paid, that's my business!0 -
Sounds odd, you aren't selling any other clothes or anything at all that could be considered 'fetish' are you, maybe they want a photo of you?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No, just three bags. It's from a girl as well (as far as I can tell from the e-mail address).
There is no way I'm putting up a photograph of myself for other people to laugh at - maybe I could ask someone at work to model it for me!0 -
I know that it does seem a bit intrusive, but if it's an expensive bag from a designer brand, sometimes they change things like the type of leather from goatskin to cowskin, etc. This can make a beig difference to the quality and durability. Some people might also collect them and want a design from a particular period.
For the season - yes, they mean something like spring/summer or autumn/winter.
If the bag's from the high street, then those questions probably are a bit weird!
The buyer may want to see how it looks when worn on the shoulder - to see if they it will look okay like that or if it looks comfortable. If you agree to sending a photo, take one that cuts you off at the neck so your face isn't visible.0 -
Im presuming you paid alot more for the bag than what you are auctioning it for so I cant see why telling her this might harm you in anyway, surely if they know a bag if worth £60 rather than £30 they will bid more for it. I always state where I bought an item and I usually state how much an item cost me if I can remember, particularly if its a new item or hardly used.
Just respond to the question with the information you feel comfortable giving. If the bidder chooses not to bid thats their business, they cant reprimand you for not asnwering every question they send. The advantage of course is that the more information a buyer has (which they deem necessary) the more likely they are to bid and like the item when it arrives.0 -
I did ask once for a pic of some shoes on feet ~ I explained it wasn't a pervy request, I just wanted an idea of how strappy the strappy sandals looked on. The seller responded, but didn't post a pic.
Needless to say I've not made such a request since.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
if you are using good quality photos (or stock pics) maybe they want to make sure you actually own the item or it is actually the one pictured. If so I would send a picture with today's newspaper next to it (and a ruler perhaps...?).*_*_* Department of Redundancy Department *_*_*0

I was selling a ladies ski suit for my sister and somebody asked for photos of it being worn. Unfortunately she was away on a long holiday and I'm a bit too, ahem, curvy for that kind of outfit so my Husband modelled it, bless his heart, they didn't bid though

Where do you all find the time? Tell her to buy the bag or bog off. The only relevant question there is when you bought it. The how much is beyond acceptable.0
