oh, but the oddest thing about today - someone my ex plays cricket with works at a big mobile home sales/servicing place and he called him this morning and asked if he wanted a bit of work delivering the vans to customers or taking them to be fixed. He has now been asked to do a full day tomorrow as well and I said - what if it is an automatic? My ex is an excellent driver, used to driving different cars over nearly 30 years but has never driven an automatic and has always been a bit wary. I did a bullet point crib sheet and within a couple of minutes he was driving round in my car. He said I'd taught him well and I thought - ooh, get me, driver phobic with a forte for being a driving instructor :rotfl:

BB, if they don't want to lose you, then they can give you a pay rise. Other than that, apply for the jobs, then when you get one they will offer you more to keep you anyway!!Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

BB - that is terrible. I have found there is no loyalty in work places now. The amount of people I have seen recently being shafted despite working for years, makes me wonder why we care and give our all because it doesn't seem to be rewarded.OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

scaredy - no chance of a pay rise. There's little chance of my afternoon job ever becoming permanent (there is a full time post but it is virtually ringfenced for someone at the organisation we are merging with who does the same job as me but is permanent) and I am now job searching daily. The colleague who went to the same interview as me shared all the job sites she looks at (her job is also contract) and I've been looking now fairly seriously since Christmas. I need a minimum of 21k to break even (which is roughly what my 3 jobs come to) but most jobs here are either in the care industry, insurance call centres, housing associations or IT engineering type work.
My morning boss (the permanent admin job which I now hate) said there would be more hours from October if I wanted them. Apart from the sheer hell of being in the morning job all day, the salary is less than 16k so I'd be financially sunk within a couple of months even if I slogged my guts out 2 or 3 nights a week teaching. I also felt the offer also made me realise what they see me as eventhough I had 'stroking' words today from the head of service of 'we know your catalogue of skills and will look to use them when a job comes up'.....yeah, been hearing that for 2 years now....
