Do you have savings, and does someone claim Carers Allowance for you? Do you not claim IS?
no savings whatsoever.
No one gets carers allowance for me, as i don't want a carer coming into my home, and my family just do what they can when i need it.
I don't claim IS as i doubt i'd qualify when im on IB and DLA.0 -
How much do you receive from IB (not including DLA), and how old are you? It looks like (once your DLA is back in place) you should be claiming IS as well as IB.Gone ... or have I?0

Assuming you go back onto the same rate of DLA, you can claim IS as well as IB. You should get approximately £50 a week extra, as well as additional premiums on your HB allowance.
Unfortunately it is unlikely you will be able to get this amount backdated, unless you were misadvised as to your entitlement by the JCP.Gone ... or have I?0 -

really? I'm completely shocked. I will apply and see what happens. £50 extra a week would mean i could afford to buy food every week!
Thank you for letting me know that.0 -

Thank you for letting me know that.
Yep, the IS premiums for DLA MRC and HRC are quite high. Apply for IS now, and let them know that you are awaiting for DLA renewal. They may give you a nil award now, but then once your DLA is confirmed (and backdated) they will reassess your award.
Let us know how you get on.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thank you so much dmg24. If i do qualify it would make such a difference to my life. Why on earth do they not tell you about this?0

They definitely tell you on new awards, but whether they did eight years ago I couldn't say. Unfortunately the onus is on the claimant to check their entitlement, even though it would make sense for such an award to automatically trigger an IS application pack to be sent the the claimant.Gone ... or have I?0
