Hi I have 2 choices,
2003 Audi A4 SE 2.4L (55,000 Miles Used)
2002 BMW 318i SE 1.9L (42,000 Miles Used)
Irrespective of Price and Colour

Which one is a better drive?
Which one is a cheaper drive (mpg wise)?
Which one is cheaper to maintain/repair?

The problem is they r soo similar
    its hard to pick one

so i thought of asking around on forums to see if someone with experience in cars general would show me a difference so i can pick between the two

I think i'd choose the Audi. Everyone will think you're a nob with a 318i. It's a shame as BMW make some very nice cars, but the 316/318 models have become too affordable and there's now no end of rude boys with M badges on the back driving them like total idiots. It'd have to be a 330i for me so i can at least leave said rude boys in my rear view mirror where they belong, lol.

The BMW is far superior to drive.
The Audi is likely to be slightly cheaper.
The Audi is probably the cheaper to maintain/repair.

Google "Honest John" and see if that website has any information that could sway your decision.

Didnt think Audi did a 2.6 in that shape? Thought it was a 2.4? Anyway, the Audi engine is a lovely smooth one and will return early 30's. As for running costs - its only two extra spark plugs to change...

All the c***s sold their BMWs and bought Audis a while ago.

Which one is a better drive? BMW
Which one is a cheaper drive (mpg wise)? BMW - 38MPG, Audi - 28MPG
Which one is cheaper to maintain/repair? If this is a concern an ageing bmw or audi probably isn't for you. Both have the capability to throw up large bills

Should really compare a 323/325 to the A4.

I can often make a 325i manual do close to 38mpg!

    And an A4 2.4 mid 30's

Much prefer the a4 over the 3 Series though.

On another note - if you're looking at 3 Series around that age. Try to get the 02 facelift model wit hthe smoother front bumper, smaller fog lighst etc...
