Does the PM, Gideon Osborne and the rest of the odd couples pay tax on their grace and favour homes?

Move Parliament to a converted multi story car park in the midlands and convert the House of Commons into luxury flats. That should raise a few quid.

so let me get this right - you think people should be charged for breeding but think that people that can't or won't have children won't have any benefit from being in this situation...

how's that for a straw-man that you don't have an answer for :T

I dont think being charged was suggested. The current system actually pays people to have children, and for many at a higher rate than getting a job. That is wrong.

I think the sabbaticals is a very good idea. I work in the public sector and would happily take one. Several of my colleagues would take one too.

So many of the suggestions on this thread are actually just good commonsense .. with the potential for massive savings.

If your department can get on happily without you for 6 months, why the bloody hell are they employing you in the first place. sort of sums up publc sector non jobs really.

I think councils should be banned from sending me a glossy magazine 2 or 3 times a year saying what a great job they are doing.
