To save £100billion they need £5,000 from 20 million people. Do it without taxing the rich more while increasing the tax threshhold for the poorer paid doesn't stack up.
GGThere are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those that don't.0 -

1. Abolish Family Allowance & Family Tax Credits for those on over £40,000 pa.
2. Family Allowance only paid for one child, regardless of how many you have.
3. Raise the state pension age to 70.
4. 10% cut in all non-sickness welfare benefits.
5. Increase VAT to 20%.
6. Close schools that are at less than 60% capacity.
7. Cancel one of the two new aircraft carriers.
8. Stop giving so much money to overseas tin-pot dictatorships.
9. Abolish the NI Ceiling, or at least raise it so that NI is paid on the first £200,000 pa.
10. Asylum seekers get no benefits, housing etc. They live in a centre until their case is decided.0 -

Or offer 3 or 6 month unpaid sabbaticals. TBH I'd quite fancy a 3 month break, just like the laydees get when they have a baby.
I think the sabbaticals is a very good idea. I work in the public sector and would happily take one. Several of my colleagues would take one too.
So many of the suggestions on this thread are actually just good commonsense .. with the potential for massive savings.0 -
