Spin, sort of imo. Spin because if 99% of us suggest they dress like monkeys and dance for loose change they ain't gonna do it. But its engaging spin. Its spin that encourages us to get an idea of the issues and have opinions. Do I think what we say truely counts...not in the way that I think they think we want to think it does (yeah, I know that's a confusing sentence) but not sure that's a bad thing really.

I'm not sure if this public "consultation" about the cuts is good or not to be honest.

I think a lot of people voted for what they (Tories) promised in the election, which if memory serves was strong and stable government, able to take the tough decisions. Now they are asking the public to take those decisions for them. Or are they?

Does this mean government will not come from our elected mps who have been appointed to senior decision making positions, who theoretically can be held to account, but from ourselves?

Will we see the Cuts Show or Bust the Deficit, hosted by Ant and Dec, sorry David and George?

The mind boggles!

If there is general public support for a fair and equitable policy. Such as a sliding scale reduction of public sector pay starting with those earning over say £22k per annum. Then it will be fair easier to implement.

Look at the noise over CGT. Yet few average people actually pay it, at worst once in a lifetime if they do.

IIRC the ''public consultation'' was a big part of the low key bumf I received. Mainly via email.

Remember the BoE man's comment that the incoming govt will become so hated they'd never stiff power again for generations...

Maybe the Boy George hopes by the faux-consultation voters will feel they're complicit in what happens and less of the blame comes his way!

I'd propose some very simple measures -

1) No one under 22 gets any housing related benefits, they can stay @ home
2) No benefits for third and subsequent kids, having babies on benefits can't be a lifestyle choice
3) Total annual benefits limited to 66% of minimum wage income to make work pay

Redefine poverty from a money/income based metric to instead cover future opportunities, or lack of. Bad families (we know who they are) should have their children taken away and put into a military style college.

lol - let's just hope that your children when you have them are well behaved otherwise they'll be in military prisons.

i don't think you've ever been around children. otherwise you might know about children's behavioural changes?
