On Jan 15 2009 I took an upgrade which I was told was an 18 month contract, turned out I was put on a 24 month contract.
I had free mobile internet on my tariff, and it was credited on my account up until March 2010, they've charged me for the mobile internet since April 2010.
I called the customer service, always get through to an Indian call center, the guy keeps telling me I was charged as I went over the 500mb fair usage. I tell him it's not possible as I barely use the internet on my phone, I use it to update a weather app and browse the net for a few days a month for only a few minutes. Anyway, he was no help, don't think he could make sense of my questions or what I was saying.
My bills since April 2010 do not show a credit for mobile internet, so I'm assuming they've taken off the free internet.
I would like to talk to Vodafone customer service in the UK, would anyone know how I could get through to a UK call center?

Could you go to a Vodafone shop?.....0
-
I got the contract over the phone, but could they help?
I assumed they're just sales and can't do anything to an existing contract.
Thanks for the quick reply.0 -
You don't say which phone you have, but most have a log of the amount of data they send/receive. If you can find it and add the two together you'll see how much in total you've used.0

The guy in my local Vodafone shop amended my contract as I thought that I was on an 18 month rather than 24.
Just pop in there and query them......0 -
Thanks, I'll go into a vodafone shop tomorrow and see what happens.
I have a samsung omnia, and it's not a good phone, never going with samsung again.
Don't think I'll go with vodafone again either.0 -
I had an Omina (for 2 days). I share your pain.0

By the way, what do I need to take to the vodafone shop with me as proof?I had an Omina (for 2 days). I share your pain.
Horrid little phone, terrible Voda support for it, stopped updates only after a few months.
At least I'll know to avoid Windows phones, Samsung phones, and if possible any Vodafone branded phones (got to wait for Vodafone version of any firmware released by manufacturer, which may take years or never materialise).0 -
edit: nevermind, got an email from Vf which shows the right info. Their website account system is a bit poor then tbh.
Hijacking a bit here but similar issue maybe. New to Vf, negotiated on the phone for Desire + mins + txt + internet for £25/m x 18 months.
Never got any paperwork in the mail just the phone and a sim card. Signed up for online account and all it says there is the mins + txt + Vf passport (?) for £21.28/m. No subscriptions. In fact, it says no subscriptions are available to add either, and I cannot change my plan.
Tried to check my unbilled usage to see if the data used is being charged but everything just says "N/A".
Doesn't say anywhere what my contract duration is.
They don't seem to have my Desire down as a Device, which is surprising since they sent me it on Fri (nb: sim was inactive until yesterday when the number got ported over from tmobile).
I remember the guy said on the phone first bill will be around the 20th, maybe it kicks in after that? Problem is, by then my hand will be weaker in reinstating original contract if they've messed up. Also, if it is kicking in on the 20th, what happens with my usage between now and then?0 -
I believe VF made a substantial change to their internet access policy a little while ago, they stopped actively selling 'unlimited internet' options, I think this was due to them being addressed over false advertising. All of these unlimited packaged actually had a 500mb cap, after which you got charged. Any existing contracts were changed, which they cover in their small print saying something along the lines of "we reserved the right to change/amend details without notice", a fairly standard thing nowadays.
For smart phones 500mb is not much really, all VF phones have this limit apart from the iPhone which is 1Gb and that is only because Apple have forced them to set that I believe.0 -
My monthly data usage would definitely be under 100mb a month, all I use is the A-GPS and weather app. The phone I have, Samsung Omnia, is terrible with internet browsing so I just don't bother using the net.
I did go to a vodafone store and ask about the contract length and mobile internet charges, the sales assistant checked my account and said it was explained to me that it was a 24 month contract when I upgraded and, if I disagreed, to call voda and ask for a recording of my upgrade order. He wasn't much help.
I called vodafone this morning, got through to a UK call center, explained my situation again. She checked some notes of my upgrade and saw that I really did order a 18 month contract and free mobile internet. She told me she has amended my contract length to 18 months and my free mobile internet.
Thank you all for your advice.0
