Same here, duel fuel online customer. My direct debits went up from £39 to £63 back in July. Their reason was the "slight" increase in fuel prices and a debt balance on my account. Sent in my meter readings and I dont owe them a penny, was going to ring and complain but whats the point, shall just take my custome elsewhere. Whats the point of being a duel fule online customer anymore ????

I had EDF on my doorstep slagging off Powergen but after my investigations they are just as bad ........... dont it just make u laf when they say, "hello miss ******* dont worry Im not trying to sell you anything" Do all the utility companys think that we have all just fallen of the back of the silly tree ????. Its the OAP's that I feel sorry for, the ones that dont know better and fall for their sales pitch.

Yeh....the Online duelfuel perks have certainly been scuppered.....at least Powergen's have....I haven't as yet checked all the others......
  • Yes.....my letter arrived today, I rang them immediately and told them I was changing supplier within the next 14 days..........they didnt seem to care...

My letter also arrived yesterday but there was no mention in it about holding the old prices if within 14 days you inform them you are going to change suppliers.
I had phoned them two days before that to ask why I hadn`t received a letter yet.
They said that one had been sent.
I suspect that yesterday`s letter was more to do with that phone call.
I did inform them when I rang to say I was switching and I expected the old prices to apply until then.
They made a note and said I would get a rebate on the final bill to compensate for the higher price rise.
Again they didn`t seem to give a toss that I was leaving after 20 odd years.
  • i've had no letter and my last phone call to powergen last week was told my rates are NOT going up - checked my latest bill this morning after submitting a reading on 6th and yep my rates have gone up - didn't bother to work put by how much, just switched to another supplier

I wonder if the Powergen Management will be getting huge wage increases?
Just waiting for Scottish & Southern-Atlantic too announce increases, then I
will decide.Currently still quids in with my Quidco cashback of £30 when I switched to Powergen.

I don't understand why the gas prices are going up, when they said on the news recently that wholesale gas prices have gone down by about a third in the last year or so. Ridiculous then that we are having to pay more for something which is becoming cheaper for the energy companies to buy.

I am also currently with powergen and will be switching this weekend when I have investigated where is cheapest.

I guess it's because the sellers see a niche in the market and probably feel that the way the prices were back in 2004-5,maybe were too low for the UK
and basically were stuffed.Somebody must be making a mint.
Ah the 5% government tax on fuel.I guess the chancellor loves these increases.Millions of extra £££'s in.I bet we all can't wait for the shirt button payout at the next budget.

EoN a massive German company owns Pgen, this company also produces and exports POWER.
So they`re making massive profits producing and exporting and selling, and of course, they`re also screwing their customers pretending they`re losing money on the retail side by quoting how much prices have gone up.
They`re the greedy B********`s that are putting them up.
