POWERGEN increase my tariff by 46% not the stated 18%
Options
Powergen Online dual fuel tariff is due to rise on September 6th.
I rang them to get the new prices, and was astonished to find that my electricity secondary units price (the one you use the most of) is due to rise from 6.98p to 10.21p per kwh............this is a fantastic...46%
I phoned again to check this, and it is correct.
What they appear to have done, is brought the online dualfuel rate upto the normal dual fuel rate....the only incentive I now get is 2% discount for being totally online.
When I switched 6 months ago(after everyone had increased their prices) Uswitch and Energyhelpline showed I had the best deal..........NOW! Powergen Online is about 20th in both of their leagues......I feel a switch on the cards....
But isn't that a disgrace...........46%

That is pretty crap. Are they still offering the lower prices to new customers? If they are not up to that old trick and really have upped the rate for everyone then they just killed the cheap online option.
Anyone with any EDF company (SWEB, London energy and, er, the other one) ) would be well advised to check their online tarif as they are just as sneaky as PowerGen.

You're right - I don't know where they get their 18% Gas and 9% Electricity increase from. Here are mine:-
Gas (inc VAT)
Tier1 3.568p 3.737p 4.7%
Tier2 2.145p 2.972p 38.6%
Electricity (inc VAT)
Tier1 13.545p 16.590p 22.5%
Tier2 6.751p 8.631p 27.8%
This is a LOT higher than the percentages they have announced. The tariff I am on is Energy Online0 -

That's what I am on as well...although Electricity varies from region to region....my secondary units are now 10.21p (inc vat).....The only bonus for being totally online now, is the 2% discount.0 -

I think there must be.....I wrote to them complaining, and they virtually told me to go elsewhere, I phoned them and got the prices.....I really hope I AM wrong, as I could do without the proposed 46% increase.0 -

They shouldn't be able to touch yours until 2010....They are excellent prices, and should save you a LOT of money....I wish I'd seen that offer0 -
Same here, duel fuel online customer. My direct debits went up from £39 to £63 back in July. Their reason was the "slight" increase in fuel prices and a debt balance on my account. Sent in my meter readings and I dont owe them a penny, was going to ring and complain but whats the point, shall just take my custome elsewhere. Whats the point of being a duel fule online customer anymore ????
I had EDF on my doorstep slagging off Powergen but after my investigations they are just as bad ........... dont it just make u laf when they say, "hello miss ******* dont worry Im not trying to sell you anything" Do all the utility companys think that we have all just fallen of the back of the silly tree ????. Its the OAP's that I feel sorry for, the ones that dont know better and fall for their sales pitch.MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0 -
