What dees your solicitor say on the matter? I can't understand why they've been stored for 5 months anyhow, many months more than legally required and why no deadline has been set for their collection to a tenant who has been unreliable and chaotic. Your father sounds very disorganised.

I think your father should be taking advice from a different solicitor. He should be asking a new one whether he can charge these ex-tenants for storage of the !!!! if they want it back so he can offset the charges against all of his costs to date.
