HELP PLEASE re Thomas Cook dispute

I would appreciate any help with my dilemma;
I had a weeks holiday recently in Greece with Thomas Cook.
It seems that the wrong flight times were printed on my return tickets and we were informed that we wouldn't be travelling back to the UK untill 24 hours later than stated.
We had to leave our rooms at midday and were provided with no food or refreshments throughout the delay.
I submitted a complaint to them upon my return, both via email and recorded delivery requesting my costs to be reimbursed and also compensation.
Some 5 weeks later I have been forced to chase them uop for a response to my letters.
On each occasion a have called I have been given conflicting information and been basically told blatant lies!
I have today been told that they will be sending me a cheque for £80 at 'some time this week' which hardly covers our expenses.
I am thinking of seeking the advice of a solicitor but would welcome any advice in the first instance.
Many Thanks
