I have done this. Its easy done, and I think its great that you are not happy to sell it with the mark. Some people would have just stuck it in the post. The buyer might think that you don't want to sell it because you had a better offer, or wanted more for it. So I would suggest contact them, explain with an apology, offer to photograph the mark, and offer to sell it at a reduced rate if they still want it. Free postage might be a nice idea. That way it doesn't look like you're trying to pull out of the deal. They will appreciate your honesty.0

I agree with everyone above. Honesty and a pleasant manner is the best policy. If the buyer gets nasty about it then they're not worth worrying about. You have done the right thing, that's all anyone can ask.
