Can I insist my insurance company does the repair?

:Tjust had conversation with saga they have given me 3 options!
1) Scrap car - Value £1000 minus excess etc
2) Scrap car, by it back and get someone one to do the repair, after the cost of buying it back we would have about £600 left but it would have to have a new mot and some other check done (£80) and it would retain a mark against it?
3) Withdraw claim and pay for the work ourselves, no mark against the car and no loss of 6 years no-claims! Oh and no mot retest?
Seems as though they are being fair but what do you think? I feel I should take the money and run but I'm unsure

Only you know if it's worth saving your car or not. Personally I wouldn't go with option 2 because it's going to affect your insurance premiums.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

The 'other check' is a VIC check (Vehicle Identity Check)

The website says its £41-500 -
option 1 personally.. not being funny but its an old clio.. you can get a decent motor for £800 these days.. i got a spares or repair fiesta (r reg very low mileage for £155 off ebay it needed brake pads and a little welding on the sill even after mot'ing it owes me less than £260 and runs like a dream)
the costs of repairing it and mot'ing it can soon mount up.. do you not have protected no claims?Sealed pot challenger # 10

Unfortunately I didn't protect my no claims as I've been told it's not worth it in the long run ! I'm going to taake option 1 as it does seem fair and I can't be bothered with the hassle of the other two. I'm just annoyed that mt clio was in perfect condition, I'd had lots of work done to it and some ***** comes along and wipes it out and drives off as well!! Oh well at least Saga have been fair I was concerned that they would be tight with their value of the car
