Keep taking meter readings so you can see whether the meter is reporting that level of usage.
You need to identify where the discrepancy is occuring in the chain.

my monthly electric bill is just over £100 and i cant comprehend how we are using that compared to other people's electric bills.we have oil heating, dont have a tumble dryer. we have dishwasher ( used every other day) washing machine on twice a week. dont use immersion heater much either...5 tvs- not usually on at once tho.2 laptops and desktop, 4 plug in telephones and use around 3 funny shaped light bulbs that use little electric. although most of the tvs and videos etc are left on standby as i would have to set all the clocks on them every morning. im not sure what uses a lot of electric so .....desp. need to cut this bill tho.......

If you have oil heating does that not heat the water?

Using an immersion heater to heat water at normal rates(ie not Economy 7) is very expensive.

You really should invest in a power measuring meter (the Maplins one has gone up to £25) and check where the high consumption is.

In general terms the major costs are caused by heating appliances, although an old fridge or freezer - particularly with a faulty seal - can use a lot.

TVs on standby, unless they are very old, will use only pence per month. A Sky box is more expensive and can use approx £1 a month. Some videos can be in that order as well.

If you do use your immersion for HW you might wish to consider Economy 7.

    You can do some experiments.
Turn off all the circuit breakers if you are going away for a day. Check that the meter reading doesn't advance whilst you're out.
Only turn on the lights and sockets and see how the meter reading progresses.

I bet you've got an estimated bill though.

I had a flat and the meters were in a communial area,it was only when I had a problem with Econ 7 that I found out that the meters were mixed up and I was paying for my neighbours electric.Be careful and ensure your meter is actually yours!!

At 25 kWh in a day that is high consumption for the summer. Although it wouldn't account for a £126 a month bill.

That consumption equates to 750 kWh per month which depending on the
price you pay could be anything between £60 and £80 a month.
