rant- over crowded sports direct shop

Options
beats me how this place got (if any) a fire safety certificate- clothes stacked on top of each other, going up about 30 feet or so??

also hardly any room beween racks, so making way for someone passing gets me a dig in the side from a hidden hanging rail (clothes draped, or rather abandoned, over it..)

'security' is a joke, as many items right by the door, with a beep each time someone goes in/out- when i asked, one member of staff said (out loud) thats because the tag system isnt working!?
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

It's only a shop for the Lonsdale and Kappa p!keys anyway.
    Shop elsewhere.

They probably only sell crap stuff anyway so a few lost items makes no odds to them really!

    i agree with jamespir.

I don't do running, jogging or anything that could remotely be classed as exercise, but I've bought loads of items from them and never been disappointed.

Some of their trainers are excellent value, as are some of their branded tee-shirts. Like all mass-market clothes retailers, you need to be picky and choosy, but their goods are generally much better quality than the shop's layout and presentation suggest. We have one on a retail park close to home and I went past it dozens of times thinking "I'd never be seen dead in there!" Eventually, when shopping with someone else, I followed them in and have been back time and again.

They do not seem very security concious, that's certain - their tills, and therefore, their staff, are always situated at the furthest point from the exit - but perhaps the fact that you have to walk past all of their other goods before you pay, and so possibly pick up an extra item on the way, pays for the odd ones they lose by pilfering.

If you don't like the stores, remember, they are sportsdirect.com
  • I shop there for joggers, trainers etc for the gym, they do sell some rubbish, but a lot of things are really good value.

Nothing wrong with stuff from there! Why spend shedloads at JJB or the like when you're just going to get it all sweaty at the gym/going for a run?! Plus, exercise equipment is pretty good too, I got some everlast hook and jab pads and gloves, around £15 for both, so much cheaper than argos and sports stores and I tend to be quite faddy and get bored of something quickly when it comes to exercise so fab for me!

The one in Sunderland is hell on earth when using a wheelchair or buggy, so much so that When my little 'uns were baby's we switched to JJB for my gymwear and never switched back(and never will).

I'm surprised they haven't been in trouble over the disability discrimination act because there is no way in hell to get round that shop in a wheelchair.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe bomb disposal isn't the best career choice.
  • Definitely a pile em high and sell em cheap store, but I've always found it worth a root around. Probably wouldn't go in on a Saturday, though!
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

That shop is a total nightmare!
Full of ex Jeremy Kyle guests.

Shame because some of the stuff is fab! Much cheaper than the likes of JJB's
I avoid catching scabbies from the main clientele by using their website

I'd rather leave my other half outside with the kids (if we had any...) and nip in for five mins by myself than pay the over inflated prices at JJB!
