Orange want a £150 so that I can use my phone abroad???
Hi,
I have recently changed contracts from O2 to Orange on who I had the roaming facility, I don't remember paying anything to have.
So when I phone up Orange as I have found that my phone isn't working in Europe, the sales assistant say that they need to do a credit check on me in order to set me up with the roaming facility which is 150 points and that's £150 I have to pay to have that done.
I asked why wasn't this done originally and orange said that there may have been an issue with the credit rating originally or it just wasn't done, basically they don't know.
I ordered my phone from mobiles.co.uk as recommended for cash back from this site.
Also my credit rating is spot less - I have no debt (except student loan), never been overdrawn. Though I have just got a mortgage but have not defaulted so can't see that being an issue.
Am I being fobbed off here? Any recommendations as O2 had set this up automatically for me so why not orange?
Thanks for any help.
Rob

because of the cost of roaming the networks can charge a deposit before they will turn it on,normally when you have not been with them long or had a bit of bad credit history.i read about it in the t&c's for o2 although never been charged it.0
