Im new to this forum, but am determined to save money and pay off debts
Im needing to remove some ugly artex, big lumpy stuff from my kitchen walls so can start to give it a makeover,can anyone advise?

make up some wall paper paste ( a little thinner than instructions)coat the wall and wait a hour or two then you can scrape it off. only do a meter at a time, its very messy though.

we used a wallpaper stripper but it is very messy, well worth it though. We had a sample tested from the artex first though as some artex can contain asbestos.

Artex pre 1980's may contain asbestos. Be carefull how you remove it - don't sand or cause a lot of dust

The easiest way is to get it skimmed over. Not becessarily thr cheapest method but by far the quickest.
